We caught this Phasmid Fairy in the botanic garden in Washington, DC during our US Get-Together! We found out that Phasmid fairies will lose their wings if you photograph their faces. But if you're lucky enough to catch one you can see them in person! Pat, Jen and Steve were really excited about that! A certain fairy collaborated with me on this one. We may use her for bait for the next get-together!

Oh Hilda I love this! Poor PJ was all the time trying to avoid those cameras pointed her direction. I don't think this Phasmid will ever lose her wings! Wonderful post! ~Mary~

You guys really caught me by surprise...literally. Thanks for letting me adjust my wings before you posted it, Hilda. There were a bit droopy after being bagged in that net...lol!!!

How lucky you were to catch one in person! Must have been a blast spending time with her! Surely there must be at least one day a year where fairies cna show their faces without losing their wings? Lets just hope someone is there to capture it for us! Great fun post, Hilda!

Aha, so you caught yourself a Phasmid fairy...methinks she put some kind of spell on you to believe in 'fairy tales' about losing wings if you see their face...I've seen lotsa' fairies...but we won't go into that, lol...another fun shot from your get-together and once again, saved...thanks for sharing this rare find with us.
