This butterfly was feeding from one of the many buddleia "butterfly bush" plants that are scattered about my yard. There is tough competition here for such shots, but I felt this lovely creature was worth showing and sharing.

Wonderful image. The western swallowtail looks very close to the eastern one. I think your bushes are a super idea that I plan to copy. Thanks for sharing.

Annie and I invite you to visit our website. Photography is not a trade - it is an art. It is more that an art. It is a solar phenomenon, where the artist collaborates with the sun. deLamartine 1855

yes, it's definitely worth of it. i love that blue shade on its wings.. btw, those details are fascinating.. i simply love this perfect macro shots :)
great lighting, the colours look so warm because of it.. and the natural greenness and flowers make the perfect background. i love the symmetry of the image caused by this little creature.. nice contrasts, too.
all in all, a great shot :) thank you for sharing it.. this little butterfly is beautiful :)
