One solemn duck stands observing the day.

I let a friend see this photo and she said-
"Where is that? There is no place around here that beautiful."
Funny thing is it's a place she is rather familiar with. It's not what you see, it's how you see it.

I think this is really well composed Dave. I think you may have the same problem as me. You like the saturation button.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

A unique and unusual perspective David!! The HDR treatment adds a nice touch without overdoing it. Very nice image!!

Does the sky ever clear in Alabama, David? After seeing the devastation to your area on CNN, watching the weather channel and viewing your recent postings, I'm happy to be living in California. The earthquakes are not all that common, the state burns up every few years and then the burned areas become mudslides during the winter rains; but the skies are pretty nearly clear most of the time.

Somehow you've managed to take a relatively routine city view and make it feel quite romanticized. I'm not sure if I'm looking at the aeration system in a water treatment plant or a city fountain. I've never seen anything quite like this with the industrial looking gutter draining the runoff from a fountain.

I can see how your friend didn't recognize the site. You've done some innovative and imaginative manipulation and turned a cityscape into a scene from a Disney cartoon. Is that Tinker Bell on the wall on the right?

Great shot. I really liked your comment. That is exactly what I like about photography is being able to expand our view of everyday scenes so that we can appreciate the hidden beauty of common places or things. Thanks for posting.
