Delicate Arch is a 52-foot (16 m) tall freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. It is the most widely-recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on Utah license plates. Nearly died of Heat Exhaustion trying to reach this beauty. It was 115 degrees F and no cover up the steep rock. Our water appeared to have been boiled. I recovered quickly once I could see this magnificent formation.
Highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.
Just sitting pretty among the rocks.
This guy was just as comfortable as could be. I suspect he hasn't seen many humans and was unimpressed.
Huge, colorful and magnificent... hundreds of years later!
Indescribable!
I often wonder what it would be like if this were developed.
Medieval villages dot the lush hillsides. This is the Garfagnana region of Tuscany, Italy...approximately 40 minutes from the beautiful walled city of Lucca. I was born in them there hills. In any season...spectacular...and a different place in time.
In Porto Empedocle off Southern Sicily. The Scala is formed by marl, a sedimentary rock with a characteristic white color. It lies between two sandy beaches, and is accessed through a limestone rock formation in the shape of a staircase, hence the name. The latter part of the name derives from the frequent raids carried on by Turkish and Barbary Coast pirates. The black dot on the Stairs is my friend.
I just adore this National Park.
This flower seemed so dainty and fragile and yet, was a hearty wildflower I saw in the higher elevations of Glacier National Park.
Taken from the Brooklyn side.
Sorry to do this to all of you...LOL This was before digital and I was learning to develop B&W film in my basement. I decided to superimpose two negatives and this was the result. I still think this is cool :) Looks a bit sinister as well.
I like desert plants. They lend interest to the pics.
Somehow, the bad weather that followed us, afforded some wonderful photo opportunities.
Glacier National Park. The trail to this lake was very narrow with thick forest on either side. We had Bear Spray but I was uneasy. Too bad...I was anxious to leave. This lake was truly spectacular
They all turned to me and asked for a picture. I just couldn't resist!
I just loved the little cabin and wondered if the people who lived ther were lucky or crazy.
Can you smell the pure, fresh air?
...on the wrong side of this lake
