Contest #5

Submitted by caedes 09/15/03 3:19 PM GMT

Contest number five "Mother Nature Taking Over" is open for entries. Piner elaborates on the topic: "Basically any man-made object that is being reclaimed by plants. A few examples: a building that has trees growing out of the windows and roof, an ancient temple that has been reclaimed by the jungle or even a canonball that hit a tree and the tree has grown around it.
Have fun with it!" One new rule is that you can submit a maximum of two images to the contest. This is really needed because the last contest had WAY too many entries for me to go through easily. [Contest Gallery]

The two submissions per artist rule sounds fine to me. It might level the field some between the occasional contributor and the prolific contributor.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

it's a good idea really... should also force us all to put more care into what we submit.

this is an interesting topic, definitely the most specific we've had so far... should be fun!

It's funny how the tables turn, turn, turn, turn.

Wow - a whole 15 days! Didn't these start out with a little more time? Some of us haven't switched to digital yet :-)

I never thought of that, that the non-digital people have to develop their pictures for the contest.

I would have placed this elsewhere, but the Discussion Forum link isn't up so...

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how slow the CAEDES site has gotten in the past three or four weeks?

I noticed, definitely. Is it because of the dev site? or mabye it is in-between servers? It is still managable, so I'm not complaining.

It's because the site is getting more traffic. I tried upgrading to mod_perl, but without some memory-use optimization the server was having to swap to disk and that was killing the performance.
