The first image I had chosen for the Permanent Galleries caused me to leap up and down in delight (not a pretty sight at my age) and my family thought I had gone mad. I think everyone remembers their first 'perm' and everyone should be pleased each and any time it happens.
Most of us have images we hoped would 'have made it' but didn't, and have felt disappointment.
Many members have yet to have an image selected - and all members are in that position to begin with - Rome was not built in a day and sometimes it takes a while before it happens but I say keep trying, keep learning and keep posting.
Unfortunately to many the word 'archived' is a sign their image has failed - and that is not the case. Archived images are not deleted or hidden away where no-one can get to them, they are still part of your personal gallery. Perhaps the word 'archive' is misleading - just try to think 'gallery' instead :)
The Permanent galleries can be regarded as the showcase of the site - good examples of what else is available. Having just one of your images placed there opens the door by way of a simple click to the whole of the rest of your personal gallery, accessible to all.
Much emotion disapointment and upset is caused by the choice of 'perm' images which perhaps is wasted energy - and too much importance placed in that area on a personal level.
Having images in the permanent galleries does not make anyone a better person or a better artist, it just means your image is representing the site because its quality and suitability has been noticed.
The Permanent Galleries are important for caedes the site , but I believe that caedes members should spend less time worrying about it and just get on with producing the best work they can, take inspiration from others and learn all they can from them, by example and the help and advice they can give.
Be glad if one of your images is chosen but do not be greatly upset if not.
Remember that there are many fine images in the 'archives' as well.
Be glad we have a place to display our work.
