As it seems like there is more and more collaboration on this site, I had the idea for a supplemental gallery for each artist. It just doesn't feel quite right to place an image you collaborated on into your own favorites gallery, as it affects the c-index. I actually had this idea with regard to one of my images, which was not a collaboration but a GuessTheArtist upload. The supplemental gallery would be user-controlled just like the favorites list, and could have its own link below the gallery link on the user profile page. Maybe it could also have a link on the last page of the artists main gallery (regardless of sort order) perhaps in the form of an image placeholder that says "Supplemental Gallery", if it could be worked out that this "image" would appear in the gallery of any artist who has at least one image in their supplemental gallery, and so that it is always the last image in the artist's gallery, for convenience.
If an image is uploaded on your behalf, such as the GuessTheArtist images or any collaborative effort, short of putting it in your favorites list there is no easy way for other users to arrive at it from your profile or gallery. I often forget that my GuessTheArtist image even exists on this site since it is rarely in my site. The supplemental images would not necessarily need to appear in the artist's control panel since they are already in someone else's control panel, particularly since anyone could place any image in their supplemental gallery (just like their favorites list). For the same reason, supplemental galleries would have no impact on c-index, nor would an artist's own supplemental gallery have any impact on the way the site's Author List is sorted.
I'd be more than happy to design an image placeholder if that idea for a link to such a gallery seems feasible from a programming standpoint. The only other programming concern seems like it would be the act of adding and removing images from one's supplemental gallery. If nothing else, this could be handled the same way the favorites list is currently, with an additional link on image info pages, assuming it is widely understood what the purpose of the supplemental gallery is. Basically I just think it would be nice for anyone browsing an artist's gallery to also find the images that author has contributed in some way to in other user's galleries. Any thoughts?
