Fantasy Football '06

1st: I may be a little tied up the next week as Fantasy Football is reaching top gear so I'm sorry if I don't respond quick or make many postings. I'll try to keep up best I can.

2nd: Anyone else play Fantasy Football? I need help....

I'm in a league of 10. We're keeping 1 player from our roster last year and I'll be drafting 5th this Friday. My problem...I know it's best to keep a RB, I have Julius Jones and Dominick Davis...yeah that's my best two. However, in WR I could keep, I have Chad Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin...should I keep a WR instead of a RB?

Thanks for any help!!

well are you trying for a balanced team, a running game or a passing game? If you keep it mostly in the air, you'll want strong first and secondary wr...guys with the ability to get open, and remain open in case the qb is forced from pocket and unable to run, must throw. Someone like Jerry Porter who has an instinct about plays, possible blittz's, and can 99.99999% of the time make a play work...especially when needing the downs. For a ground team, if you have at least one strong wr, you can do well with strong rb's. For a more balanced team, share the wealth, but remember...having amazing wr's and rb's are only as good as the protection from the front line. Bulk that up with players that can read blitz and hold the protection out of pocket so the qb CAN make the plays needed. Stats matter in Fantasy, in real-life...I would say that you need balance with a strong front.

How IS your front line? Keeping this player or that wont matter much if you have a wussie line who wont protect.

I haven't played fantasy in a few years (since moving from tahoe to fresno), but y'all will definately see less of me over the season...oh and...

GO RAIDERS!!!!

Keith...I won't share my beer with you until you can tell me what an RB (running back) or a WR (wide receiver) is...now go get yourself schooled, then come on back...I got a fridge full of beers, and plenty of chips, salsa, and bbq to last the whole season!!

I have what I call my football season fridge--
most of the year, it is shut off and acts like a pantry, but just before pre-season, it gets cleaned out, plugged in, and stocked with football essentials!!

Yes, my life revolves around football season...deal with it.

My husband hates football season-- he says he loses his wife and instead gets a beer drinking, screaming, cussing football fanatic psycho.

Yeah, that's pretty much me.

I'm already getting my pda geared up for when I'll be in Hawaii, and unable to catch the game...at least it's againt the Chargers...if it was a Denver, KC, or New England game, I'd completely blow off the family reunion...instead, I'm just gonna stream it.

Many wr's are capable in other areas, but again, if the line doesn't hold, it doesn't matter. I would probably say Jerry has the best idea...and if it is a strong wr, you can play it as a pass causing D to play long, then play a run...

Hahaha .. I was watchin' football before either of you were born .. trouble is .. I also stopped before either of you were born

and .. the Raiders? .. I wrote them off when they left Oakland (since I live 20 miles away) .. and then they came back, (at great expense) and within a year were threatening to leave again

Hey, just because I love the Raiders doesn't mean I like or agree with Al Davis!! And now is a good time to come on back to watching football...my fridge is stocked, my projector is ready, and my bbq is fired up...

Hmmm...watched football before I was born....I watched football before Oakland knew there was football. Give you an idea how long....Tom Fears, Elroy Hirsch, Y.A. Tittle, Tank Younger, Norm Van Brocklin, Otto Graham....were're talking Civil War stuff.

See, now while I may be a young pup here...I was raised on the Raiders...and by them. My babysitter when I was 7 was none other than Kenny Stabler. I was taught about football by my mom, but even more by them team. So my loyalty with the Raiders goes WAAAAAAAAAAY back.

...which is also probably why I turn into such a football psycho. I have turned down invites, shut out friends, you name it...football season comes and the world revolves around it. I once was asked if I'd rather win a million bucks or season tix for life in the Hole...I chose the season tix for life in the Black Hole...I probably could have bought season tixfor life with the million bucks...but season tix were a sure thing over possibly with the million...so yeah...I may need help, but I think I am way beyond that by now.

Randy, Fantasy plays on stats. WR can play running games when needed--it is not their best area, but if needed...besides, with a WR, like I said before--you can force the D to go long and then pull a run out. If your RB's have strong stats, stick with the WR's.

Lauren-- Kenny Stabler was QB for the Raiders in the 70's, and one of the all time greatest QB's. Don't listen to the bonehead men who are just tryingto see if I'll get mad and not keep an eye on my Football Fridge...leaving it open for them to raid. Not gonna happen guys. You want the beer, gotta come over and watch the games with me.
