QUOTE ... The standard dreams of future technology, such as intergalactic spaceships and do-everything robot servants, are still a ways off, but plenty of exciting technology advances will be here fairly soon.
From inexpensive 20-megapixel cameras to 50-terabyte DVDs, here's our definitive list of technologies we're looking forward to seeing.

Revamped Interfaces Remember how cool it was in the movie Minority Report, when Tom Cruise's character pushed and pulled images around on virtual screens? It's not so far away: Researchers are already experimenting with new interfaces that allow you to use touch screens to manipulate data. For a peek, see the amazing demo by NYU researcher Jeff Han.
all the really cool stuff just gets classified and is never seen again - a bit like IBM's occular PC that was showcased with much fanfare some years back only to promptly vanish shortly afterwards. Last I heard it was in service with special units of the military.
does the MS dream list contain such a thing as an OS that arrives complete and never needs service packs and fixes?
ah yes - so you did - maybe that could go on the foolish list immediately under the infamous bill gates quote of "The pocket sized (huge reinforced pockets that is) Microsoft Origami project will be an iPod and PSP killer machine...."
To humor the party pooper who complained, I will censor my quote=======
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:: Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine, into your brain, and THAT is where poopy-ish ideas come from!!

The Death of IE6
Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 is a problem: Its bugs and its incomplete support for Web standards have been thorns in Web designers' sides for years. They'll breathe a sigh of relief when IE6 finally drops off the list of most used browsers.

Here's another rousing endorsement, quote from Khoi Vinh:
"Over at OS Opinion Jef Raskin, one of the Macintosh's original fathers, defends his publicly stated laments that Mac OS X, in spite of its advances, doesn't really represent a bona fide step forward in operating system paradigms; a viewpoint with which I happen to agree. And at his own site, Ask Tog, ex-Apple human interface guru Bruce Tognazzini (now a member of the HCI Legion of Doom) sounds off in a disturbingly shrill manner on the shortcomings of Mac OS X's Dock feature."
Kicks CD player above and beyond it's anti-skipping capabilities. Oh, wait ... it was already skipping in the first place. :oP

1000 Pages Printed per Minute
Thanks to a new printhead design dubbed JeTrix, in a couple of years you may never again have to hang out by the laser printer waiting for your document to finish. Instead of a small printhead that moves back and forth across a sheet of paper, JeTrix heads can be built as wide as the sheet, allowing for some truly amazing output speeds.

Finally ... a printer that can keep up with my 'output.' ;o)
Annnnd btw, ... Tim? One thing that really bothers me and gets my goat are webpages that hold you 'hostage.' Lose the re-direct stuff ... if it's in your control ... it ... is ... annoying to say the least. *stern look*

Sorry, Sus ... you just happened to strike me funny bone. Been missing your Caedesian classes lately huh. Miss one day and you might as well as write off the semester, lol.
Could I be of some assistance?
*hands Sus his card* ... *notices that Sus has lighter in hand* :o(
Go to Tim's homepage in his sig ... and we will send out the IE Browser Rescue Team in a few.
I was just reading about a laser television set to come out in December '07 that will be half the price of plasma and have a much better picture. It also boasts to be lighter, with a smaller "footprint" than plasma and use less energy. What is it they say about "if it sounds too good to be true"??

Nasty - just run the Microsoft Vista Upgrade Advisor program on my laptop and all is fine spec wise and they, obviously, recommend I install the most expensive version. One major concern but hardly a surprise though is the sudden incompatibility of a lot of software installed including my security and Adobe Photoshop apps with the somewhat worrying caveat of 'this program may not work as expected after upgrading to Windows Vista'
It’s just like Windows 2000 and then XP etc all over again. Lovely.
wow, being stuck in the technological stone ages is starting to pay off for me:P damn shame about vista, phil. microsoft couldn't possibly be expected to produce a glitch-free software item... how would they make money on useless 'customer support' at 40 bux a pop if they did?
but but but ... it'll only take 15 minutes to upgrade to vista .. so you'll have that extra time to get back to work and earn the $$ to pay for the upgrades
