Dwight, sorry to hear that your daughter got scary news! I include her in my prayers and hope that, on further evaluation, the cancer is localized and can be dealt with relatively easily. Thanks for the link. God bless!
Wen
I'm very sorry, and please know your daughter will be in my thoughts. As Wen said, hopefully it's local, and will be relatively easy to work on. Godspeed.
I'm sorry to hear that Dwight, really & truly. There's nothing more terrible than a child getting sick, is there ? You feel so helpless. I know, my daughter was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer this year.
If you ever need to talk, I'm here. I hope everything works out well for her & your family.
Stay strong and keep your faith. Science and medicine has REALLY advanced and they can really kick butt now with battling this. Being a letter carrier at the USPS, I've known quite a few people who have had sun/skin type cancers and even this type/melanoma, as well and beat it....SINCERELY. Best wishes for your daughter and family.
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
Medicine these days really is good, I know...I was diagnosed with cervical cancer at the beginning of 2006, and after chemo and radiation, I am happy to say that I am in remission. I know it is terrifying, but please for you and your daughter, stay positive. And most of all, laugh. Thanks to my friends here at Caedes, and lots of laughter they shared with me, my spirits remained high...and one's mental state is very important in recovery. You and your daughter will be in my prayers...and remember, if you need to talk...or laugh, we are all here for you.

Its a big shock to hear news like that, here in Aussieland it's a major problem and I think its 1 in 3 will at some stage in their lives get melanoma and its not just adults these days, teenagers are getting them too which is a scary thought.. but as Jen said, the important thing is to stay positive no matter what the outcome is and get lots of support.... your daughter and family are in my thoughts and remember... IT WILL BE BEATEN
Amen to that Jacq!!
Stay positive, no matter what the doctor's say. Keep the faith...whatever faith you feel you need to keep. You will be amazed how healing a positive outlook, lots of faith, and a sense of humor is...sometimes more healing than medicine...and often the things that make the medicines work so well. Do not allow yourself or your daughter to go down the path of poor me, life sucks, I can't beat it...that attitude manifests that result...just as a strong positive one will create positive results...I swear by this way of thinking, it's what got me through.

Prayers and positive thoughts go out to your daughter Dwight...as others have already said, keep the faith, add humor and sheer stubbornness to the mix and this CAN be beat ("A merry heart does good, like medicine..." Proverbs 17:22)...and thank you for reminding the rest of us to be vigilant in these matters...all the best.:Pat.
Sorry for my lack of comments and responses lately...I'm waaay behind in both...trying to catch up with a temporary avatar change and a quick but much appreciated note.
I thank all of you my freinds, for your wonderful thoughts and prayers. Roxann will go in Monday to see if it has spread to any of the lymph nodes. Again Bless you all for careing. May peace and happiness be your friends, always. Dwight.
Dwight, even if it has hit her lymph nodes, it is NOT the end of the world--remember that. If you or she feels you need another opinion, it is your right to seek it. Most of all though, stay strong. I succeeded because I had a strong support team, and because I made a point of staying positive. One final thing...and you can ask Les if you don't believe me (he was my daily dose of humor and warmth) make sure your daughter...and you...laugh about it. I have 3 dots on my butt...tattooes...lining up where my radiation would be directed...I asked them to do a dragonfly while they were giving me my tattoes. When I was sick, I'd make jokes about it...that I was on the supermodel diet. Laughing about the predicament makes it less scary and the laughter in itself is great medicine. Good luck, and we are all here for you.

As a grandfather with 2 children and 4 grandchildren my heart goes out to you and your daughter Dwight. "Positive" would seem to be the keyword mentioned above by those with experience and first hand knowlege. I'll be praying the prognosis turns out to be a "Positive" one.
Good evening to all, It's been a long wait i know, but Roxann just got back from her checkup, and finely we got the good news we have been waiting for. All lymph nodes were clear, and the extra tissue that was taken on her shoulder was clear to. No chemotherapy, just hast to check for any lumps, and have checkups now and then. God Bless you all for your prayers and the message's of comfort. My friends, i wish you and your loved ones peace and happiness, always, and may the new year be your best ever. Sincerely Dwight.
Yay Dwight ! I'm so glad to hear such happy news about Roxann ! See ? There really IS a Santa Claus ! Seriously, I'm so happy for your entire family ... just be sure she stays on top of things, okay ?
Hugs !
