Well it's Christmas time again. Time to spoil friends and family, and perhaps even yourself. It's a time of sharing, of love and joy and most importantly of smiles and happy memories. It's also the time to step out of your comfort zone and help other people out.

I've recently come across a very worthy project, that I thought I would share with you guys.

Miles 4 Smiles
Today, two Capetonians have completed an epic journey across the Great Wall of China. Braam Malherbe and David Greier started their run on the 24th of august and have run about 40 kilometres per day, sleeping in the turrets of the wall.

They raised money for the Miles for Smiles organisation, which assists children with facial deformities through raising funds for operations to do facial reconstruction. All funds raised are donated to the Operation Smile South Africa program.

It costs around R5000 for an operation that will give a child a smile for life. Luckily you don't need to run around the wall of China to make a difference. You can get involved by buying a "brick" on their wall. Bricks range in prices from R30 (US $4), R100 (US $14), R200 (US $28) and R500 (US $71) for various sizes. Corporate sponsors can have their logo's included on the brics they buy.

It's really not a high price to pay. You can read more about the project and buy a bric at Miles for Smiles: Get involved. (You can pay using a credit card.)

I don't know if international credit cards might be a problem (I don't see a reason why it would be), but if there is a problem you can also donate directly to Operation smile at Operation Smile Donations.

So go ahead... give someone the gift of a smile!
