I think that people should be able to upload up to 3 pictures a day instead of just one. It gets annoying when you want to upload a picture but are not able to because you have already uploaded one for that day. I can understand why there is a limit on how many you can upload but I wish it was more then one.

you can upload two images per day if you become a Cadre member of the site, but the restriction is there partly to encourage people to put more thought and effort into the pieces they create and show rather than using the galleries as a dumping ground for anything and everything on their hard drive.

I use to think it was lame we only got 1 image a day, but i have come to appreciate it. It makes it so images that i post get more of a chance for people to see because the site isn't flooded with stuff.

when and if it's moved there... i have an idea. what about a weekly allotment? lets say someone wants to upload a series. they could do so, and then wait for their quota to re-charge, so to speak.

What I'm prposing is actually beneficial to the site (I hope) and simultaneously, more user-friendly. Lets say a Cadre member uploads to their permissable limit. that's 2 images a day, times 7 days in a week. What if that number were cut to 10, for example, but left to the user's discretion when to use them within a given period?

If 10 is too high, as I suspect, perhaps a "cluster" allotment of 4 or 5 and then a seperate allotment of single, daily uploads, and not on that same day.

In the long run, the server is handling fewer images, and at the same time, members have a little bit more flexibility with how and when they post images on the site.

The senate has already had this discussion a while ago and it was decided that one image a day (two for Cadre members) would work best.

The limit used to be higher but it was reduced to avoid peoples images being lost as they are on sites like DeviantArt. I agree with Noah that if anything, the limit should be reduced as member levels increase to avoid "oversupply".

maybe we should make it like trying to submit a CapEx in the workplace - you know - when you need a new PostIt pad and you have to write a 14 page essay justifying why you need a PostIt pad and how it will benefit the body politic etc etc.

you can upload 2 images if you become a cadre.. plus.. if people uploaded more than that the image would get lost in the rush (like DA).... and... it would mean more work for the mods ;)

Agreed...

Keep in mind kimsoosun, unlike other sites such as DA, the mods have to OK images that enter the galleries. I for one, would rather have the mods who volunteer their time, be able to enjoy the site also, instead of spending all of their time approving images.

Well ... Kim ... I happen to think, as well with the others ... that limits are a good thing.

Apart from keeping the site from being inundated with images ... it forces you to think more on your work. Perhaps, devote more time to an image ... whatever and whichever.

I understand why there is a limit. It does make people choose better pictures but all I am asking for is mabye two picture upload limit like I said before. Cadre people could upload up to three. I am not asking to remove the limit just rasie it.

Kim, the limit for uploading is in place to help keep images that are uploaded visible for a time. Right now there are 226 users online. If everyone uploaded 2 images right now, that would be 452 images!!! If the Cadre uploaded 3 right now, right now that would be an additional 21 images. Total for right now would be 473 images to view. And this isn't the busy time for uploads!
I might ask you why do you personally want the limit raised?
