EXAMPLE http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/7650/dsc03489zx7.jpg

The question I have is this, is there a way to fix this problem , am I not holding the camera still enough (This happened once using a tripod), Is there a setting I'm not using or is this camera just bad a taking night pictures?

Thank you in advance for your help!

If 2 seconds is accurate you can count your lucky stars it is as clear as it is .. :o) .. part Cyborg, you are

just because a camera gives you a "program mode" does not mean it will deliver a quality shot, each and every time .. things that you can do to improve this might include raising your ISO speed from a paltry 100 up to 400 and you will quarter your exposure time (half second) .. or a higher ISO .. understanding that this will increase grain in your shot

in FILM photography, the general rule of thumb for a safe handheld shot was the equivalent of the lens .. so a 50mm lens was a 1\60th of a second .. a 200mm lens was 1\250th of a second .. I am not at all sure how to equate that to digital lenses (this claims 5mm)

In simple terms, the darker it is the longer the shutter has to stay ope to allow enough light through the lens. Obviously if you move the camera whilst the lens is open you get blur. Basically you will have to use a tripod but if you touch the camera during the shot you will get movement and blur once again; that means you need to use a timer or a remote so that when the camera takes the shot you aren't touchin it at all. Obviously you need to make sure the tripod is on a stable surface... even then a strong breeze could still make the camera move and lessen the sharpness of the image.

Hope this is of sme help to you...

Another thing, when it comes to the time to actually take the picture, use a cable release or a remote control (if applicable) or you can also use the timer. Some cameras have the option of 2 or 10 seconds delay from the time you hit the button. When it comes to tripods, make sure it is a solid one that would handle the weight of your camera.

Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backward. Look for the 'ah-ha'. Ernst Haas,

It will also help, when using the tripod (a must for me)..if there is the least bit of breeze blowing, I use a long, skinny bean bag to stabilize my tripod...it is amazing what a difference it makes. You can make one by filling a couple of old tube socks with beans....be creative! Hope this helps you. ;=)

Well after reading your responses I started taking some test pictures with a tripod and a higher EV and ISO, it seems like the pictures are coming out clearer then before when i don't move the camera.

Thanks for your help everyone! :^)

Oh and &KEIFER Its amazing how you could tell all of that information from the file name!
