I would appreciate some constructive ideas and suggestions as to how I may have improved this one (please view it full size)
I know it is not everyone's idea of a desktop but for what it is I thought it turned out fairly well, and perhaps even deserving a litle more than the below-average rating it received.
I followed advice to try something different - well this was it and - I think I will stick with landscapes and flowers. :)
firstly, yes...do view it full size. the reduced-size image (technically not a thumbnail) doesn't do it justice
ok, now...for the image itself. I love the vibrant blues, and the perspective is a fun one, but the crop feels too tight.. like the dragon's in a "cage" that is the frame of the shot.
hope that helps :o)
PS...if you do go back to "just" flowers and landscapes, you'll have to answer to me
Agree with Roberto!! Luv the colorings 'n' textures provided within, but it comes across a wee squeezed. I like the fact of the perspective in that you didn't do as most and shoot it straight away...that's a keen thought babe!!
I agree...the first thing that I thought was that it was very busy. There's an obvious focal point, and the perspective does show that you took the time to really think the shot through (which, if you ask me means more than the score), but there's still a lot of stuff going on. Don't let a tough score make you rest on your laurels, but you do what you wanna do and you don't have to answer to anyone!!! Well, maybe just Rob!!
Many artists\photographers only gain real fame when they are dead ... and let me go on record, right now, that I wish for you to NEVER gain real fame
but, should it happen anyway .. 'twould be a shame if you gain this notoriety for a category that only contains ONE image .. in fact, I think you should plan for a coffeetable book: Dragons I Have Known .. (or, Draggies, so the Aussies can read the book too)
Here Thar Be Dragons .. is an expression meaning there is danger to be found here .. so, continue to shoot your "foof and circumstance" .. and tell your grandchildren to look for your name in the photographer's almanac listed under the "meek and mild"
or .. brandish your sword, slay the dragon of self-doubt, and wade into the abysmal swamps of photographic spontaneity
47 is an above average score for me (my highest being just 61). And you had 16 comments at the time of this comment, which is more than even my oldest and most popular (downloads) image. Don't spend so much time dwelling on the c-index. If you like and enjoy creating your own work, why worry what the highly flawed c-index says. Comments speak louder than numbers.
On Draggies - Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. so perhaps I am not brave enough and don't the meek inherit the earth ?
And hey, wait, I dont just do meek and mild ! My Tetrapods are fierce and mean, and they got a similar score lol
I do not really spend time 'dwelling' on the index - honest.
Today I spent time shooting the sea over 300 times- in great danger I may add.I went looking for laurels but was waylaid by nature's magnificence. I am just sorting through them to see if there is maybe one suitable for upload.
Perhaps a book "Waves I Have Braved" to go with "Dragons I have Known"
:)
