I unloaded the images off a 'Kingston' high speed memory card to my Pictures folder...Now I cannot find them, no matter how many searches!..
I know the images are still on the card..146 of them..but cannot access them without the use of a recovery programme! Can anyone helps with suggestions of any 'Free' recovery media that would help me!..Grateful for any help or advice...Thanks...Bob

try looking for them under my computer/drive "x" or whatever slot your computer assigns to the CF card reader. also, this is a long shot, but try the "search function", and limit your search to pictures only, large files >1Mb, and sort by date.

If you are trying to get them off of the card still (im not sure thats what you are saying or not) id try kingston's website. They might have some recovery software in their support section.

Kingston have started to bundle MediaRecover now with their cards and don't offer it as a download themselves by the look of it. it's $30 otherwise, but im pretty sure there will be some freeware utilities out there somewhere that perform similar functions.

Rob...Tried and done all that mate...no luck ..

Milo...Yeah, tried to rescue the images from the memory card, although they had already been downloaded once!..

Phil .. Sent off an e-mail to Kingston, awaiting a reply!

Robert .. This was the one I tried first!..and it was a trial version of this I downloaded...it found my 146 photo's still on the card....then wanted me to buy the full version so that I could download and save them!

I have now recovered and saved the images! thanks to Les (purmusic) who found a 'free' recovery tool...and worked very well...Now I am a very happy 'bunny'..

To all who responded...sincere thanks for your welcome support!...You all have my utmost appreciation!

Thank you

Bob

Here ya go, a link to the recovery utility that Bob used:

Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery

This utility is free ... however, it is bundled with their ZAR 8.3.

And I quote;

"Why did you discontinue the standalone tool?

This serves as the platform for future image recovery function enhancement. We decided that it would be much easier to implement some heavyweight image recovery algorithms this way.

Original Digital Image Recovery was freeware, but ZAR 8.3 seems not?

The digital picture recovery functions are implemented in the trial version of ZAR 8.3 in full. Hence you just need to download the evaluation version of ZAR 8.3 and it does the job at no charge. So, picture recovery functions are actually freeware. There are no plans to charge for it."

I have to add to the comment that Les made...
The recovery of the 'card' was very easy, I just followed the simple instructions!...The programme is a wee bit slow, but does a damn thorough job!....

Thanks again Les...and to you all who rallied in support!
