Hello everyone,
This picture - Ultimate Desktop has been marked low in the C-ratings (29). I can understand the lack of photographic excellence but I thought it had an appeal in it's own right, as a desktop wallpaper. Any more comments regarding it's use as a background image, or the lack of interest it has to you, please let me know so I can try other avenues of creativity....or not!
On one level, I like it .. there are a couple things holding it back, in my humble opinion
1) .. it is a tad on the simple side .. essentially it is a still-life, just as a teddybear and knickknacks on a dresser top would be a still-life, but teddybear and Co. would give the viewer so much more to look at, detail wise .. consider adding a newspaper or day planner type of filler
2) .. you could claim it is a minimalist piece, and details are for the easily bored .. true .. but often in art, and photography, if the viewer feels they have absorbed all there is to absorb, in one passing glance, they move on to the next stimuli injection life has to offer ... your views-to-downloads ratio is about 50%, this, I feel, is average from what I've seen ..
3) .. focus .. my eyes are older than yours and I rarely point out focus issues because I never really know if maybe "it's just me" .. but I feel the table top could be sharper .. for me, personally, if there is one thing I can not accept in a desktop image, it's an element that makes me question my eyeware
4) .. lastly .. take the c-index with a grain of c-alt .. it is not c-arved in c-orinthian c-attlehide ... we all c-haff over our c-alculated c-astings
I actually liked this piece and got it in the VB (can't recall, perhaps a 5 or even a 6 was my mark)...which is high marks from me 'cause I'm tough in there!! I like the minimalist approach!!
