I have trouble with what people comment on my images. Photographers comment on my photography, unless it is focused on a car, and then they consider it something else. At that point, the droolers come in, state their name numerous times, leave, and I still have no advise on the angle, the lighting, the touchup, or any other wonderful things that accompany comments on normal photography. It seems the most experienced skip this zone and move onto something in their class, like macro. Is there some type of religion invloved? Are they all required to refrain from such vile images?
I think that many photographers assume that an image is meant to be just a snapshot unless the photographer has made it clear that they were trying for art. For instance in the Lamborgini photos, you don't say anything in the description to indicate that you were trying for an artistic piece. To me it just looks like you snapped a quick photo of the car and didn't really try to make it 'arty', so I wouldn't expect comments about the rule of thirds or depth of field to be of much relevance.
So if you want an artistic critique I'd suggest asking for it. =)
Good idea. Just to make it clear, I wasn't being critical to the droolers, they actually tell what they think, which is more than the photography pros do. :-) Thanks for the advise, I will try that.

I suggest putting a comment in the description that you would like harsh critique. Many users refrain from giving critique for the fear of upsetting the artist. This way they know that it is ok to leave some advice. There are some basic rules in photography that can be followed to improve an images appearance but a lot boils down to personal preference even amongst pros.

When I see a shot of a car in a garage, I think "snapshot of someones cool car", as caedes described earlier. Which doesnt really appeal to me. Maybe if the images were in a better environment, and the car was still the subject, but more a part of a beautiful image as a whole.

...I don't have photoshop so I wouldn;t know. I use IPhoto and Photoimpression ..which both aren't as good as photoshop, they are both mainly for editing color/contrast and effects. ...sorry.

Ahh, yes. Now I found the comment, sorry for not getting back to you, Sam. Well, if you want to take any of the images and warp them to your own creation, that would be quite alright with me, as long as you let me know what you did. :-) I have plenty more pictures, and the originals of those (bigger size and slight color change), so let me know if you want to steal them.
Sam is the last one who needs to 'steal' one of your photos, Luke. Further- more, you should be grateful an artist of his stature would even consider working with what anyone else would consider to be a mere 'snap' or photo. Not to get too rough, but more respect and less arrogance on your part would go a long way.
I agree with Tracy on this. If some one takes the time to comment on your work look at it as a critic not an assault. I don’t think either, that Sam would take or do something to some ones image to gain popularity or to insult some one. Personally from having on line conversations with Sam he has too much integrity to put some one down out of indulgence. He has a little thing called integrity. And you should be grateful that he or any one else with any knowledge or some skill would take the time to make a suggestion to try and help you. There’s a saying. Be careful of what you ask for. You may get more then you can handle.
I looked at your work. I feel that your images are a little too tight and need to be a little sharper. By opening up the image to a wider view you give yourself more of an expanse to work with. Being close is not always the answer. Some times you need to step back and frame the image and have a lead off before you take the image. Also they seem a little lacking in the lighting area. Maybe setting your F- stop to another setting an checking your depth of field a little will help. But that’s just my opinion.
Agree and disagree with the posts above. I think he may have been using the word "steal" jokingly and not seriously. Agree tho that you may need to work on your handling of constructive criticism. There were a good deal of constructive posts on almost all of your car pics and a few on this discussion that you failed to respond to, other than Sams request to make a RW. I think instead of constructive ciriticism, you may have been looking for "positive in-depth commentary". In other words, looking for people to comment on what was right about the image other than being of a pretty car.
Even so, we must remember that you are only 15 and doing very well for your age. So I suppose some slack should be given. Maybe.. Just remember not to be offended when people dont like some of the images that you may be more attatched to. Just because, as you say, photographers may not be attracted to you car photos because of their "religion", doesnt mean there is something wrong with them, and not the images. Its all personal taste in the end.

Whoa, a lot of comments! Well, first, thanks to all whot ook the time to give me some advice. Yes, I did use the term "steal" in a way not intended. I do know that Sam is, for lack of other words, above me on the ladder by quite a long climb, and if i failed to openly show my appreciation for his attention, I apologize. I also agree with what was said about people saying nice thigns, me brushing them off, and looking for more indepth opinions. I didn't mean any harm to anyone, but I guess I prefer people to back up their opinions. I do my best to when I comment on others work. I don't expect others to spend hours goign through my gallery and commenting on everyone, and I certainly didn't intend to look like I am beggign for professional help, but I did get some. I suppose I could sharpen the future images a bit more. For many of the car pictures, it is hard to back away and get a shot as a whole, otherwise too many cars get in the way, or I am standing on top of another car (not appreciated at dealerships). I am aware I am a beginner, and simple thigns to improve on work, so I am sorry if I appear as nagging those older and wiser. Also, the car pictures are some of my least favoirte pictures of my own, but I wanted to know how to improve on them. Thanks to everyone for commenting and offerign opinions, and for Sam for using my picture.
I presumed you weren't being serious about the stealing thing. Tha'ts the trouble with typing, you can't use body language or voice tone to express sarcasm etc... I find the "smiley-winky" face can be helpful in those instances ;-)
