I'm look to buy a new camera sometime in the near future, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Almost anything would be a step up from what I have now.

There's a huge selection of cameras out there. Perhaps if you gave us an idea as to what you want to shoot, what your budget would be, etc it might help.

Also, are you sure (and please, don't take this the wrong way) you're using your current camera to it's full potential?

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

My thoughts:
Point n Shoot: I love our Powershot SD600, I plan to get another of the SD series when it dies. For portable excellence I haven't had anything like it.
SLR-like: I had a Kodak high zoom and loved it. The one thing about kodak's is the color quality. My new rebel is better, but not much. My father has my kodak now and I can actually spot pics he's taken with it. Also, my mother-in-law is very happy with her canon s3.
SLR: My experience is only with the rebel and the rebel xti. I like them both but am now addicted to lenses and other such accessories. Versatility is a wonderful thing though. If you go this route I suggest getting a body only and finding a good walk-around lens as the kit lens is a bit short to satisfy all the things you might encounter in an outing.
My current setup is a Canon Rebel XTi with an EF 28-135mm IS lens.
I have only used canon but I know plenty of people are very happy with their Nikons, Olympus and Sony's. I believe Sony just bought out minolta so their alpha line of cameras should have a VERY large food chain of lenses.
Hope that's some help!

Yes yes, third_eye is right. More info please! :) What camera do you currently have? What subjects do you photograph most frequently? What is your realistic budget? The more info you can give the better recommendation we can give to assist in choosing a camera that will work well for you!
