I am about to buy myself a new camera and am looking at various SLR digital camera's such as Nikon D60 & Canon EOS 450, but have read that many reviews I feel dizzy...so I would love feedback from you guys? Whats good in the price range of up to £550 ($1100)? Remembering I would like to get a kit which includes a lens.
Thanks for your time and experience.

You can find everything you need know here:

or
http://www.steves-digicams.com/
Both were a great help to me.
You can compare different cameras side by side.
And don't forget to compare the lens also.

Nina, I've recently bought a Nikon D60. this is my first D-SLR camera and I have to say that I'm delighted with it. For the money you have available I bought the camera, which comes with an excellent 18mm - 55mm lens and I'm ordering tomorrow a 55mm - 200mm lens. All for less than £550. The Canon also gets great reviews but is more expensive.

I recommend either, because of the fierce competition you will not go wrong with any choice you make. I personally have a Canon 400D with a 28-135mm Image Stabilized Lens. I got the cam in a bundle but found the lens used. For a general shooting setup it is very nice. The 28-135 is optically superior to the kit 18-55 IS currently available. It is actually the kit lens for the 40D. This combo new is not something that is bundled too, It would cost you about $800 USD as you have to buy the pieces separately. Most of my new stuff is with this lens. Also Costco has a 400D combo right now for $999 USD that includes the 18-55 IS and the new 55-250 IS lens. I don't know about if that's in the UK though, their UK website isn't as good as the US one, and that bundle isn't online that I could see.
Hope that's not too much to digest.

In the UK, Warehouse Express are the just about the best of the online camera retailers and often have many offers or promotions going so you can have a look see there.

Thanks everyone...I am the proud owner of a new Canon EOS 450D. I went and tried them out today and the Nikon was a touch uncomfortable in my hand, but the Canon was nice and snug. So now i need to learn and get out and use it.

Can I recommend figuring out what kind of pics you like to take then getting references on HOW to do those things. That will make you better.
