I have a question about archived images. I uploaded THIS Image 4 days ago on the 20th of November 2008 and only after 4 days it goes into archives. Is there something about the system that I am missing? I thought they stayed under new images for a min. of 30 days. If I am wrong about this, someone please straighten me out and please explain about the archived image only after 4 days of being posted.

Images are archived by moderators when the mods wish to leave the image in the user's gallery viewable by the user, but not displayed in the main galleries, like the "new images" gallery. I'm not telling you why it was archived, only the mechanism by which this happens.

Thank you Reg for your answer. I understand you have answered to the best of your knowledge. The reason why after 4 days is probably out of your hands, and I understand that also. Whatever reason the moderator uses is in there hands but it just doesn't make sense when I have an image in the same category that has been there for 2 weeks and yet it is still in "New Images". Thank you for your response, but just to know why would make me a happy camper.
Please understand that I am not mad about the situation...I just would like to know why.
Images are usually archived within a few days for a few reasons – if they are a terrible snapshot or if they have been repeatedly uploaded with little or no change made to them for the purpose of jockeying for position in the gallery or trying for another go at the c-index for instance. As neither of these scenarios seem to apply for these images, I have ‘unarchived’ them until whoever archived them can provide a suitable reason. It could also have been a simple oversight/mistake so it is perhaps best in these cases just to pm a mod with the link asking what has happened.
Thank you very much Phil for your response and for your help in resolving this for me. I do understand mistakes...we are all human and make them. If it was a mistake on my part, then I would have liked to have known as well. For future reference, I will PM a Mod and try to handle things like this on a more personal level.
