Has anyone ever bought a new camera on ebay? The 40D is still $899 at Amazon and BH, but I saw some much lower prices on ebay for a new 40D w/warranty. I will be buying one this Friday and would appreciate your feedback.

Careful Gregg About trying to save a dollar or two. Ebay can be a Nightmare with such a purchase. Even when buying from a seller with 100% positive feedback you can get Screwed.
B&H is a Great Place to Buy . Good Service and Returns are No Problem. Check Out a Circuit City if you have One near you.
I saw some 40D's, Body Only going for $599 only a few days ago. They're having a Country Wide Going Out of Business Sale right Now. Good Luck with your Search !

Thanks E J, that is the answer I was looking for. The Circuit City here has the 40D w/28-135 lens for $1,039, 20% off, they don't sell the body only, I will call some others tomorrow. For $599 I would buy it in a heartbeat, thanks. Gregg

Maybe you could buy some lenses on Ebay, because they rarely fail. But it's more dangerous with a body IMO

I ordered a Canon 50D and a Canon 70mm-200mm f/4 L lens (same lens I had before) I could not make up my mind on the zoom lens,I ordered from Amazon.com. I chose the 50D so I could crop my bird photos better. We will see.....

Yes, almost if the lens is a EF-S 18-55 IS by Canon.
(IS mean stabilized lens)
The normal price is ± 500 €. Actually one pound equals one euro...

I checked out two French online sites that sell computers,computing hardware and cameras etc... and the Canon EOS 1000D (just the camera) costs 359 € or 379 €,the Canon EOS 1000D with EF-S 18-55mm IS lens cost 459.95 €.
