In the market for a really high-end camera? Then you could probably do worse than check out the Sony Alpha A900. I noticed on some online retailers at the weekend that it has crashed in price from its quite lofty launch price – almost half in fact. This puts the 24MP+ monster cheaper than a Nikon D700, much cheaper than a Canon 5D Mark II and at least 60% cheaper than the Nikon D3X – which is essentially the same camera in different clothes.

Hurray for credit crunch price crashes… boo for having insufficient funds available to capitalise on the crashes :-(

I don't know where you saw it, Phil, but it is selling for $2700 on Amazon.com. It says original price was $2999.

was looking at a uk retailer - warehouse express - the price there is around $2400

i guess it could be a reaction to the pound being worth nothing and the european model price being too high at launch :-)

but even at those Amazon prices - it still the same as the Nikon D700 and way cheaper than the $8000 D3X sister model.
