My son is using a Fuji S1000 fd camera, and he is looking for a tripod to take crisp, clear pictures w/o image blur and shake. Do you know where he could get a tall yet affordable tripod at a store like Target, Wal-Mart, etc.?

Have you tried a store like Target or Wal-Mart?

Target's electronics, photography, and similar accessories tend to be a little overpriced. Best Buy is..sometimes, but they offer a decent assortment, and at least have sales where as Target almost always sells at full market MSRP. Stores like Adorama and B&H offer the best prices, as does J&R, but unless you're in NYC, their merchandise is only accessible online. I'm guessing you want to go see and feel one before buying it.

As for size, look for 60-66 inches. You shouldn't need a really beefy trpod, as the S1000 is small and light. A $30 to $40 tripod, should be fine.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

I also use Fujifilm S series cameras. A couple of years ago I bought a nice sturdy medium weight 66" tripod for $60 at B&H that is full featured and has outlasted three $30 tripods that were not nearly as versatile.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)
