So for one of my courses I have to write a paper regarding digital photography. It's a pretty broad topic, but a complex one at that. Some people think digital photography is...well, they think that digital images aren't photography. Others think that it's become less of an art as it has become more accessible to the masses and it has become so manipulable. And those are just a few thoughts on digital photography.

I was wondering two things:

1.) What are your views on digital photography?

And,

2.) Any ideas on something I could analyze? A specific use of digital photography, current events that have employed the use of digital photography, &c. ?

I would really appreciate and value any input coming from the wealth of knowledge here.

Water: if I were to write a paper about digital photography without boring someone to death, I would probably break it down into three sections "the beginning, the middle, and final statement" . Now you are probably thinking this guy is nuts. Please let me explain. If I had a choice of rearranging my sock drawer or reading a paper on digital photography, I would read. I would want to know how it got started and why -(the beginning) "was it really the constant clamor of environmentalists to eliminate chemical waste or the power restrictions of the space program that created digital photography? In the (middle) I would want to know how the challenges were overcome to develop digital photography,like how did they not develop but mas produce the image sensor.My final statement is how digital photography affects me everyday. With sites like Caedes, photobucket, Google, space program, medical, the food channel, sports, MRI, CAT scan, Movies, GPS, etc. Because Digital Photography covers such a wide range of technical activity treat it as a general subject. Finally - what do I think of Digital Photography? "I am just glad it has not found its way into my sock drawer, which needs rearranging. How embarrassing that would be!

I would also add the obvious.... Pros and cons..The changes it has brought to both the current state of the world, see it ... photograph it. As well as the effect that not buying film and paying for processing has allowed more people (especially those of us that didn't have the funds) to both experiment and enjoy photography for more than just the occasional highlights.

What are people's thoughts regarding the role of digital photography, twitter, flickr, &c. in the events proceeding the Iranian elections?
