I don't remember the first "45" I bought. Probably something by the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, or The Temptations. But the first "album" I bought was Light My Fire by the Doors (I still have it and have no anyway to play it!).
(1961).... a bunch of us who went to school together would put the 45 record on & call each other right at midnight on the 16th birthday and play it over the rotary dial phone attached to the wall with a very short cord.....oh my, those were the days!. . . . . . . sad, isnt' it? :-)
It was indubitably one of the Everly Brothers' hits, maybe 'Bye Bye Love'... I had such a crush on them...both of them... it didn't matter which one. ;-)
Methinks I was 14 years old...give or take a year.... it was Gilbert O'Sullivan with Claire or The Osmond Brothers with Crazy Horses!!
Oh..if I think of that, my mom/dad always got mad if I played one of those...real loud and if I say real loud, than I mean real LOUD...think that's why (s)he got mad, now that I think of it....lol...
