There are times when members and visitors have a question about the site or about their pictures and they would feel more comfortable seeking information with a mod in private rather than posting their question publicly in the Discussion threads.

I would like consideration for a link placed on the front page which would allow us to communicate directly with the moderators.

This link would open to a box (like the Dialog Box) for subject and for text. All of the mods would be in the pool to this link providing them with access to the comment. Anyone one them or all of them may answer the posed question. All responses would be visible to the person posting the question and to all of the mods. But, it would be private to them. This idea is like a “help” link found on many sites.

For newer members, not familiar with whom the mods are, it would provide a quick and easy way for them to receive advice and leadership from the moderators. It would also be quick and easy for all of us, too!

I was once told (by a mod) that if you message a mod or The Boss it is discussed by the mods regarding the problem

A help link would have advantages though, as it would not rely on any particular mod being available to check their PM's.

It should be fairly easy to implement, as the "complain" button has a similar function; the "Help" button could be almost identical in terms of how it worked, except that the notification would be sent to all mods instead of just consuls and above.

As long as it was explained to people that they should check the FAQ before sending a message, and that they may not receive a reply immediately, I think it could be a useful addition. Not sure where the best place for it would be... I think the navigation menu would be best but there is already so much stuff in the side menu.

Jacqueline, that is exactly my point. How many people, new or old, know of your conversation with a mod? My point is, they do not need to know, they can have a "help desk" link and get their question answered. It is just like Excel, or IE, or Word, or PowerPoint, or etc. It is not tucked away in the Site Information folder. It would be out in the open and easy to access.
