What value has the Credit system when on many images posted every comment has a cred, almost as though someone is actively just pushing the button for the sake of giving everyone who comments a credit. This is very noticeable on some artists images.
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . At first I found the whole business of creds rather dopey now days I give one to anyone who leaves a comment, An above average comment gets 2. I guess people enjoy getting and giving them, but I don't find them very helpful
I find value in using them and observing how they are used.
For example, and as noted ... if a member simply hands them out to anyone that makes an appearance on their image's pages. I will avoid commenting on said images.
Might as well channel that time and those energies towards those that are more appreciative.
And perhaps, those members that might need more assistance or be open to improving via a constructive critique. Like those in the "Lonely Images" galleries.
Ever since the comment requests were removed ... seems to me, that those images from members who do not or have not yet subscribed a large friend's list ... are receiving less comments now then they did when comment requests were generated.
I believe the creds would have more credibility if just one per person per comment were allowed. Suddenly seeing a large number of creds appear within a few minutes on one post suggests people are multiple trigger pulling which rather diminshes their value in my opinion. 10 creds from 10 people have more value than 10 creds from one person.

I dont need your creds to make me feel better thanks. If you can stop the earthquakes we are feeling right now that may make me feel better. Or bring back the dead in Christchurch - I have more to occupy my mind right now than this. Thanks all the same - but save your creds for someone who needs them or deserves them. It is frivolous use of them such as this that makes them worth very little, but if it amuses you - go for it! Why dont you go and comment on some lonely images instead ?

I hope you are OK Lyn after I read for the second time in five months, New Zealand's south island city of Christchurch was rocked by a major magnitude 6.3 earthquake Tuesday afternoon with reports of casualties and major damage to downtown buildings. Hope you and your family are all safe and your home has not been damaged and repairs to power lines and other important services are quickly restored and the city gets back to normal shortly
Thanks Diane - I am many miles away but we are feeling the shocks - it is awful, I can't stop shaking. My son and family live near Chrischurch and are on their way home right now after attending a funeral out of town.Since the 6.3 one just before 1pm there have been six more - the last one just before 3pm - magnitude 5.5. Many of my friends and work colleagues are desperately trying to contact families there but the phones are down and the mobile network is overloaded. I weep for the people dead and injured.
Sorry for hijacking the thread Chris. I have put a post in Off Topic now.

Lyn - obviously the earthquakes are a tragedy but I don't think bringing them up in this context was productive or appropriate. Let's try to stick to the issue at hand.
Goodness gracious! Show a modicum of compassion and civility and cut Lyn a little slack. You could have PMd her. what happened was far more tragic than going off thread. What are we becoming; so critical of each other?
I originally commented that I didn't think the 'creds'(props) thing was going to work. So now folks are complaining about it. Well, I am one who gives creds to everyone who comments because they were given to me to use for that purpose and I am not going to make a contest of who made the most erudite exposition on my image. I want whoever comments to know that I read what they said and am appreciative for their individual observations. To give a cred because someone has greater facility with the English language is not right.
Cynlee - as advised in the past discussions are normally shut down when they are no longer productive in terms of the original subject, as this one has become.
I'm sorry if you think my comments were innappropriate, but I was simply trying to stop this thread from becoming yet another series of personal attacks as so many others seem to have devolved into. I guess I should have just removed it and been accused of censorship as per usual instead.
