I have a glitch with the desktop icons on a windows 98 computer. They appear as just a generic windows icon but the normal pics are not there. Any ideas for a quick fix other than a reinstall?
Good morning
Have you tried running TweakUI over the system - it has a section to repair icons. A Microsoft product, but they don't provide support for it. Am certain the pre-XP version is still readily available; check the Microsoft site first, if not then hunt for it elsewhere. If you can't find it, let me know, I think I have a copy in my backups.
<scanning the ground for wood, feeling pockets for matches>
<muttering to self> Wonder how long these take to crisp to edible stage. Dash, should have asked.
<calling out> Hey. Rob !!
*offers Romane lit propane torch*
*sets egg timer for 43 seconds*
*cautions against holding marshmallow between fingers*
*prepares wooden stick, whittling point*
*mounts single marshmallow*
*resets timer*
*retreats to Canada before the dingo eats my baby*
Well, TweakUI does not help:-( When I go to the start menu>programs the usual icons are not there. When I click to start say Microsoft word, I get the window that asks which program do you want to use to start this. It seems they are all .ink files. I am lost as to why this happens other than it seems the icons don't know where to find the program to start it. Any other ideas would be great:-)
