Ok.. for your chewing, pondering, edification and comments. What about an assignment to capture, edit, then present shots of things that fit the title of "Signs you don't see every day"
Now I'm stretching a bit .. but I know that we have some unique ones around here.
Surely our Aussie friends could offer up some Kangaroo crossing signs, or our friendly Floridians could congure up a few "don't feed your kids to the alligators" signs. Actually, on reflection, I have a photo somewhere in an album of a sign in a Florida park, right by freshwater beach, advising the patrons not to feed the alligators. Hmmm.. No, we didn't go swimming.
The second is more amusing than the first, I think. I also saw another sign that is quite common on roadworks: "No lines marked - do not overtake unless safe." Whereas on marked roads, of course, you can overtake whether it is safe or not...
Good morning
Oooh, goodie - a reason to go drive up this mountain road and block the traffic while I shoot pickies of this unusual road sign I saw :) Might try for that in the next few days.
Enjoy your day

There is a sign posted on the town of Parachute, Colorado's border that is very funny. On the post holding up the Welcome to Parachute sign, there is one about the size of a "no parking" sign. On it is a smiley face and the words "Smile you are on Radar. I think that it I very effective,

Photography is not a trade - it is an art. It is more that an art.

Phak Ding (its probably spelt wrong but u get the idea of how it sounds lol) I think is the name..imagine seeing that on a road sign! (its actually only walkable, no roads). And if u wanna see a good sign (not a road sign), its in my gallery...if not archived already.
*edit* well yeah its edited..but it said: Do not wash cloths in toilet.

Don't know if it'd be qualified, and I know I'm resurecting (sp?) here but hey... Took a picture awhile back driving over to Tampa, of a cow sitting under a sign that said and I quote, "Florida Orange Juice Here". The sign was under an orange tree, and he was under the sign. Loved the shot, wonder if it's still around.... Good day though.
When I was going to University in Thunder Bay, we came across a snowmobile only crossing sign. It was similar to a cross walk at an intersection, but was only for snowmobiles. Wish I got a pic of it to show ya.
"To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
