Need a new Gallary for Photography

I was thinking that there should be a tree subcategory in the photography category. The reason why I think that there is a need for one, is that I take a quite few a upclose picture of trees but I feel like the nature category is not the right one since nature to me is a image that captures nature as a whole not just one single focus point.

I also take photographs with trees as the main and sometimes only subject, so I agree with this wholeheartedly. I can understand the desire not to proliferate subjects, but, to me anyway, trees do seem to be missing.

The first step would be to come up with a list of images that would be suitable for the new gallery. From memory I think there needs to be at least a page (36 or so) of images before a new gallery can be considered.

Selected from New Images or Main Galleries or combined?

I have taken note of 11 images from the first seven pages of New Images that could qualify. There are 50 pages so finding 36 should be a piece of cake.

From the first 3 of 303 Main Gallery pages 11 images could easily fit into a 'Trees' gallery.

I think that they should come from the main gallery for now, but then again I am not site administrator so my opinion is not that of the site. The reason why they should come from the main gallery at first is to set a example of what the site is looking for in quality of the pictures. That way new images added to this category would have a baseline to go off of.

Creating the gallery is easy. I am less enthused about trawling through the 303 pages mentioned above and moving all the "tree" images into it though...

This not something that the site has to do, I just thought I would give my opinion. In no way I am I asking for the site to do a task that they feel unnecessary or a waste of time.

But I thought you said 36 (or so) images were needed to start one - I already have a list of 22 recent ones if you want them, after reading your first post here.
Would those artists want them in a 'Tree' Gallery though? They may be happy with them where they are.

Shame it is not possible just to open a gallery and let people choose to place new images there if they wish. Maybe Chris (coram9) who posted above would be happy to change his last two images to a Tree gallery category to start it off.

The Gallery New Images/Computer has only 6 images in it, Holidays and Music just one each and Illustrations has 18

The point was if there was a tree gallery all those images would have to be manually moved into it. Just like they were for every other new gallery we have made. No point going about it half arsed IMO. I think people can move their own images manually but there would still be a huge number of old images by people that aren't around any more that a mod would have to move.

Not trying to start an argument, just saying that I am not ready to be the person who spends all those thankless hours moving them (this time).

Although... presuming that most of the images are already in the "nature" gallery, it would be considerably less work to just go through that rather than the entire photography gallery.

Sorry, I did not understand all trees would have to be moved, I thought it was just the 36 to start it off - and I still am not sure I understand why they would have to be. All the trees in 'nature' would still be nature. It would not be like having a train in a car gallery. Trees often get placed in landscape or general as well.
Surely not all the photos depicting gardens were moved from nature or flower or landcape when the Garden Gallery started ?

I doubt there would be many suitable trees in Insects, Aircraft, Lighthouses, or Food and Drink etc
I have a couple if images I would be happy to change galleries for - surely all members could do that for themselves.

I was thinking that for the tree gallery, the trees would be the main focal point for example:
"Wisdom" by cocoaman2121".
But an image like this Pine II by cinny7 would not be in there even though it is a picture of a tree branch.
I can understand creating a new gallery would take time, and it is something maybe other members could vote on, to see what others think.
