I'm seeing quite a bit more CGI's, drawings, and paintings these days...It's good when one can get away from a camera...Shades of the early days @ Caedes...
This place must've been ROCKIN' in the fledgling days, judging by some of the weird (and awesome) stuff posted...If only I'd known about the site prior to early '06...Maybe even '05!
Yeah, it was rockin' all right...didn't matter what time of day or night you logged in there were always lots of members online and the uploads evoked alot of well earned oohs and aahs...lots of fun on the off topic boards back then too and while there was the odd blow up they seemed few and far between compared to recent months/years...sure wish we could get those days back.
Think 'we' (speaking generally here) or any/some of us could produce a list of reasons why numbers (uploads, etc.) have changed. And even then, there would be two sides to any coin produced for consideration.
So..
Going to try and focus on getting back to the roots and mission statement (of sorts) of the site.. rather than focusing on the perceived shortcomings.
'Cause..
I believe/think/feel.. most are a lil' burned out when it comes to the contentious stuff. That is not to say.. 'bury your head in the sand'.. simply put.. channeling energies and time more effectively makes more sense to me, personally.
For me it's just change, which (I think) is the only constant in the universe... people come, people go, some get angry and storm off the stage. We've lost a lot of good artists but that doesn't mean new people can't become very good artists if that's what they want. One reason why uploads, etc. have changed is this 'paradigm' shift the site has been going through. Growing pains? I don't know. I agree, Les, that many of us are a tad burned out. I'm also sad over the losses, but I think/hope things seem easier now. I like Caedes and I think it's an excellent site. Maybe it'll never be what it was in earlier years but possibly it could be better.
People aren't going to remember the things you do. They're going to remember how you made people feel. Be kind, gracious, and appreciative. Dan Winters - Photographer.
Just my 2 cents...
