It's very unlikely, especially if you don't know about it. Most computers have a single hard drive only.

If you have a pc, go into MY COMPUTER where you will find a list of drives such as C: which is a local disk. Hope that helps:-)

A second hard drive that's permanently installed on your PC isn't going to be a very good backup media. There are many things that can wipe out both drives at the same time. I'd recommend a removable (external) USB or firewire drive. Just remember to remove it after the backup and put it somewhere safe.

Or you can use DVD/CD-R's or RW's of course. I usually try to have at least two backups in case a DVD/CD gets corrupted.

Go to the device manager and click on the + sign next to Disk Drives there should be a list of the drives on your computer. The only bad think about doing it like Mayne said is if the drive has several partitions they will show up like more than one drive in My Computer.

I second Caedes and Sam, I burn everything off on disk every so often and have an old, reliable external zip drive that I can store projects in the works on. If you're looking for safety from computer problems, take it off your computer altogether.

Cheapest option would be to install a CD burner - cheaper than a zip drive or a large flash drive. You only get 700 megs on a disc, but they're not expensive. For things that you change often, use a re-writeable. For little things like bookmarks and address book, just stick it on a floppy.

Well external hard drives aren't too expensive. Just get yourself a USB harddrive rack, get another HDD drive to put in it and you are reasonably safe.
