Could not view while in the New Images approval queue.

Still can't view in New Images gallery, as well as, in the member's galleries.

Yet.. it did seem to have been approved?

PM received from gr8ulted:

"Personal message from gr8fulted [2/08/16 22:43]:

It was either a jgp file or a jpeg file. one or the other. I shoot RAW and the software I use while processing converts it to one or the other.

Some folks seem to be seeing it, but I can't see it anywhere. The only time I can see it is when someone posts on it."

... ...

I had asked what the file format was, as this issue had.. sort of, kind of.. similarly crept up before when a member had uploaded a TIFF file.

Another Version of ZapThefly Aircraft.

Not showing in image queue, nor that of the New Images galleries and the respective member's galleries.

There are others that I have come across that are older and from various other members.. will endeavour to make note of them in this thread.

More weirdness from today.. as this image displays in the image approval queue in thumbnail.. but, not when visiting the image's page. At all.

This was noted by another member on the image's pages in comments.

Seems some can view these images.. some cannot.

I can view it, however, the first image noted in this discussion thread.. the member reported something similar to what I believe you are saying.

But.. once someone commented on his image.. he could then go to his image's page and see it.

Found something out.

Was looking through member ro_and's galleries and noticed that "Carcassonne 12" was not displaying for me there.

Just a white area where the thumbnail should be.

But.. if I go to the next successive upload, namely; "Carcassonne 13" ... and once on that image's page use the >> keys to navigate backwards to that of "Carcassonne 12" ... et voila. The image's page displays a thumbnail and I can view it full-size once clicked.

Here is the direct link to "Carcassonne 12".

Which works for me when the link is provided.

Reiterating.. not viewable in the member's gallery, though.

Ok, so..

Using the navigation arrows (<< .. >>) in either the member's gallery for the image in question, or, that of the New Images gallery.. are the current workarounds for some of these images that are not properly displaying for some members.

Go to the preceding or succeeding image.. use the navigation arrows (<< .. >> ... found at the top of the page and on either side of the thumbnail and are coloured blue).. and navigate back or to the image that won't display for you.

It has happened in the past that a member has uploaded an image in a format that was not compatible with the site.. i.e. TIFF.. with the results being that the image would not display.

(In this instance.. if you clicked to view full-size.. a gray opaque screen would appear and cover the page.)

But, in this thread, we have instances of absolutely nothing at all displaying. No thumbnail.. nadda.

So, I am leaning away from just an image format problem and towards this issue being browser and server related.

I do think, after PM'ing with Tootles.. that this particular image's mystery may be solved now.

I don't understand but will bow to your knowledge. I downloaded the image and although it has been uploaded at 20 MB it is just 1.32MB after being resized by the site. It is also not as large as some others 2160x1440 pixels. However the dpi is 351. Most are 72, maybe that has a bearing. It just seems weird you can not see it on Firefox but I can.

Sorry for the confusion... I was talking about too many images. :-)

The one that was 20 MB was last night's one... whazzitcalled??.... er... ah, A Bright Spot. That's the 20 MB file, and it was slow loading.

Just to check, as I still have the same PNG I uploaded (I put them in my wallpaper gallery), Dappled Hill was 1.9 MB.

I think your previous suspicion or pointer is the correct one, that it's something to do with Firefox. I did have Firefox open, and though I wouldn't deliberately opt to upload using it, I might have done so thinking it was Safari. They are both fairly featureless, so I'd just type my password in to log in, et voila.
