just a curious question, but what type of music is everyone out there into? or am i just speaking to my computer monitor hoping that it would speak back?
i am into techno/industrial, it's all good stuff. any other comments?
My thing is mainly rock, what I guess is mainly grunge/hard rock/alternative, with a few of the master pieces of classic rock for variety. If it helps to get an idea of the music I'm talking about, my favorite band is probably Alice in Chains.
well now that i'm here i might as well reply: i listen to electronica (like aphex, kid loco), hiphop (like J5, tribe called quest)....ok i could go on 4 a while but put it this way i listen to everything apart from garage & house : )
Well, I've sorta changed my tastes since my last post. My favorite type of music is pretty much Rock (favorite groups are: Natalie Merchant, Coldplay, Jars of Clay and a couple others). But still, I do not like hard rock, rap, metal, or stuff like that.
Drum n' bass, psytrance, triphop, ambient, chillout, bigbeat, "good" rock with dirty sound like Chris Whitley and PJ Harvey, oldies like The Doors... I got a lot of more . :) I listen to a lot more... Anybody heard of Fleashquartet, Swedish band? One of my favourites. It's kind of rock music with string settings plus one of the best singers I know, Fredde Wadling. I guess you will not find it outside of the Scandinavian countries though...
oh i like PJ, havent heard any other ones u mention, but i thought i mention a recent discovery of mine if u r into electronica, u will like this, Tracy & Klas, u mite like but its a tad mellow. the dude goes under the name 'four tet', been hooked on his music, very pleasant & innovative.
& cinematic orchestra if u into jazz.....great big thumbs up
It's kinda funny but........out almost everyone I know, I'm one of the only ones who listen to country! Like WN aka. Tommy, I listen to classical, but definately NO rap, hard rock, and pop.
Hehe... It has been known to happen that I listen to JJ Cale. I adopted it from my wifes musical collection along with some of the rock I mentioned above. It's not really country though as much as low key bluegrass. On occation JJ Calee does go over that fine line and into the realm of country... It's ok I guess but "hardcore" country is not my thing. ^_^
I forgot to mention one of my absolute favourite artists in my other post. Natasha Atlas... I simply love everything she has done. I'm a sucker for music / art that transcends the preconcieved rules and borders and makes new approaches.
Aphex Twin rules btw, Avi. :D He and Photek are my house gods, but it was a while since I listened to Aphexs most experimental stuff... I'll try and find that mellow dude. Mellow is my middle name. ^_^
Most of the country music today doesn't really sound like old Western country, or what you would expect country music to sound like. Country has taken a more up beat turn recently.
I listen to anything and everything...current faves...Nirvana, Sevendust, Incubus, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Outkast, Bela Fleck, Garth Brooks, and anything John Williams.
