Ok so i have to do a wedding shoot tomorrow (my first one) and it was calling for blue skys which was nice but now they have changed it to overcast with possibility of rain... so the rain isnt my worries because then the photos will be moved to another day aswell indoor
what i am looking for is hints or tips to make an overcast day look better
i am using
-Nikon D70s w/ 18-70DX lens
-Nikon 5700 (backup)
-Nikon Speedlight flash i think the 600 (im trying to borrow it if not some ancient canon flash)
*and i have made a diffuser for the flash
Well in many ways a overcast day can be better. You have very little glare and less shadows. But then you have the problem of flash casted shadows. I would pick up a low cost photo sinsitive flash to set behind the subject to take care of some of the shadow cast from the main flash. But other wise a good flash will help. Also consider a filter to cut out some of the uneven wash out. maybe somehing like a soft glow filter to give a little glow the the whites.
Ok thanks a lot prismmagic for the quick responce... i dont think shadows are going to be much of an issue because i have a diffuser for the flash and for the soft glow filter if i dont have a chance to pick one up i can just use photoshop
I've found that if I shoot the images in RAW format I can change the color temperature to make grey skys a little bluer. You have to be careful, though that your subjects don't end up with blue faces :-)
Thanks Regmar i will have to try that one sometime but i managed to get lucky, right as i had to take the photos blue sky came out and everything turned out amazingly
