I really like this idea, very ethereal. I do find if disappointing, however, when people feel the need to post negative comments. These are, after all, the works of others. Too bad the counter is only quantitative and not also qualitative.
I would rather receive a well supported negative comment (not just "it sucks!") than a positive one. It awarens the artist what viewers notice about his images and encourages improvement.
I do not mean to say all critical commentary is bad, I just think that there are some comments that are cruel and best kept to oneself. Those that do promote improvement or offer sincere advice to someone with a bad or mediocre image are great, and can help several people.
Karma: The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny.
My 2-cents: It would be cool if members could rate the comments as being "cruel", "accurate", or "flattering". Then have ones Karma represented as being balanced or not, through an average of these scores. Such that the closer one is to making more accurate comments without cruelty or flattery would bring one closer to true “advice” enlightenment. Thus telling you if you post too many good or evil comments.
i definitely prefer substantive commentary to simple "i like it", but i do love it when people tell me they like something i've made. i've yet to be offended by anything someone has said... that being said, there have been some off-the-wall, "where did that come from?" comments that I haven't understood, haha.
