Sending multi PM'S

Is there any way to choose multiple contacts to send PM'S to. Say for example you want to say goodbye to your friends before a holiday you could choose more than 1 @ a time.

I don't believe that is currently an option. Right now you would just need to copy and paste your message into new PM's. Head on over to the dev site and and you could leave that as a Feature suggestion on the discussion board there.

I have just had a thought though, apart from my question I know the IRC chatroom is there to encourage conversation. Would sending multi PM'S encourage the same sort of chatroom use for this site etc?

It is possible that Caedes does not want us to have the ability to send mulitple PM's at the same time because of this reason, or it may also encourage spamming. Maybe if we were required to type the actual user name instead of choosing from a list this would cut down on abuse of a system like this if it were to be implemented. Personally, I'm okay without the ability to send multiple PM's. I would find a very rare occasion to use it.

I think this is a function we could rather do without. Just imagine how it would be abused for sending spam messages.

If you want to say something to multiple members, then post it in the "offtopic" discussion.

Stop trying to figure out who's talented and who's not, and just take a shot at it, okay? Do some art. Tell anybody who asks that I said it was all right. ---Emma Bull

Even if this was a good idea (which I now think it might not be due to agreeing with canoe's comment) I can't see how you would implement it. Currently you have to go to the persons profile, and click "Send a PM" (or whatever it says). How would you then select the second member you wanted to send the same PM to?

It would have to be intiated in a different way. For instance a "Personal Message" link in the Navigation menu that would take you to a page with a dropdown menu of member names. Or to prevent/reduce spam, a name field where the usernames would be typed in seperated by commas.

A dropdown menu with 150, 040 members in it?!? :-o
The second suggestion would work but of course you would need to ensure that you typed it in perfectly correctly. I think the current method would be faster anyway.

Like office 2000 when selecting a contact (send to adress book) you simple scroll or put in the first few letters to find your hosts! This could be the same for all Caede's members.

I'm sure I read somewhere that an overhaul of the PM system was one of the many possible changes that were on the cards.

It would be handy to be able to find members by typing in a few letters of their user name, even if we didn't bother about the multiple PM thing...

Yes, I agree that a member search would be quite a handy function. Right now, the wallpaper search works for that if you can remember the spelling of the membername. It would be great to have a search that works like a "To:" field in many email programs. If the name is in your address book all you need to do is type in the first few letters.
