im just wondering if we can have an option to sort the author list by the amount and rating of their images again. i found it to be handy sometimes, and also inspired a little personal competion to post good stuff, ie. see if i can make the next page, or is that something the Wise Ones have decided to abort?
After various complaints it was decided that the Author list should be sorted randomly instead of according to image rating. This way there's no need for "attack voting" to try to boost/reduce someone's ranking and you might get introduced to some new artists which you might otherwise have missed.
I would just like to step out and say i agree with carl, even though ive heard all the mess about attack voting and such. I kinda feel it is strange we are all so concerned about people wanting to get to the top and such. In life you are constatly rated, wheither it be marks at school, or a reveiw at work, or walk into a room and people compare what you wear. That is life. I think its basicly the same thing. If people can't accept that i feel they should get off their computer and step into the real world.
But thats just my oppinion. I just wanted to say it.
"A piece of toast with butter always lands butter side down, and a cat always lands on its feet. What happens if a piece of toast is tied butter side down to the back of falling cat? Does it hover above the ground in perpetual indecision?"
Although I agree, there are unfortunately people that take senseless stuff a bit too seriously. So I doubt that we'll see this according to ranking again, but who knows...
add it as only an option to the people who have a good record on the site? dunno if that could be done easily but say just to people with over 500 karma or something and no hall of shame comments?
Even if the soorting is put back in place again, we probably don't have a high enough percentages of images with c-indexes yet. This is illustrated on the "Fun with statistics" link in "Other stuff".
If the authors images were being rated by content instead of the authors' popularity I would agree with you Carl and MiLo, but unfortunately the tiny people on the site couldn't leave a good thing alone, and they trashed our egalitarian voting system. I am pleased to see that the vituperous discussion threads are gone, and the voting seems relatively sane again (although all my image ratings have gone down tremendously).
