No, I agree, I don't see what is wrong with the picture. . . .the title is what she choses it to be. You may be being a bit hyper vigilant, it is her choice. I am not a moderator either, but you have posted this as a thread on a board where everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. You may have wanted to contact a moderator privately if you did not want public feedback.

Lets just say the subject of the image needs to learn to control herself... Some of the images being uploaded lately are quite disgusting.. Shame on the authors.. Send all the pm's you want I will not remove my words.. Shame on the site for allowing them..

Morwyn i believe i know the image you are talking about because i just read your comment on it and if you look at the trend of that artist they have always been a dark artist and that is their was of expressing themselves. do you think that art has always been abstract lines and pretty waterfalls no, in fact i bet 90% of famous paintings are very dark in disturbing if it a visual meaning or what the artist was trying to send a deeper meaning. so i say it is good to see variation and as far as im concerned they are black lines (if you see the pic you will understand)

That is only one of many, and I think we will have to agree to disagree.. When I first came here there was nothing like the ones I am talking about and I felt safe in allowing the small chikdren in the family to surf the site.. No longer.. I am very dissapointed.. I thought this was a clean site..

There's dark, there's deep, there's disturbed and yes I agree with you Jeffo, I'm by no means advocating the stifling of artistic expression. You will not find a more open minded soul than I... But then there's inviting disaster. I could send you to a less innocuous website than this one... BUT GUESS WHAT!? It's no longer there because My best friends 13 year old daughter was groomed from that site for months, by a f- - -ing pycho, then lured away to never be seen again...You have children? I showed my friend the picture and title in question, it nearly killed him. Oh how similiar it is, yes his daughter was disturbed, she was dark and VERY artistic, she too just wanted someone to "get to know the real her" and "tell her she's beautiful inside and out" AND those are her exact words. Yeah, I'm hyper on the topic and all I originally asked was that a moderator stay on top of it and maybe change the title, I'm not saying to delete or remove it...IT is ART! Just look at this thread and the passion it stirs, that's what art is about but jesus, doesn't anyone here read the news. I didn't pull my original post due to the few comment from our younger members...It was the violent PM's I received with-in minutes of posting it, all from adults. Whatever, I just thought it would be better to use caution than total and absolute disaster as our example...

I'm sorry to hear you pulled your original post due to pressure. I believe we should be able to speak our mind freely here. You got me curious though, PM me the image link so I can judge for myself what is going on. :) I kind of get the big lines in the picture I guess... but I'm bound to run with the dark team I guess. ^_^ And I completely agree with Jeff's comment above.

I can’t quite quantify the extent of the backlash that seams to be going on against the current crop of more challenging and darker images. As far as I can see none of them are any more graphic than say something like the visual creations in movies like the LOTR trilogy or the violence in Jurassic Park movies both of which were certified for viewing by and watched with great enjoyment by millions of impressionable children the world over. As has already been said here and as memory serves on occasions beforehand in these forums, art is supposed to be challenging. The site has evolved into something far more than a wallpaper site – again a point raised on many occasions before. I think it is wholly inappropriate to insult or belittle artists who push these boundaries purely on the basis of an extreme personal offence. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions but equally everyone is also entitled to freedom of expression in their art and should be able to do so without fear of persecution. I see no reason why, so long as these images stay within the code of conduct which I believe they are already, they shouldnt be posted & I see no problem with them.

Image moderators are there for a reason and it is their responsibility to police the images that appear on the site. Similarly parents are there for a reason – to make an informed choice as to what they deem to be suitable for their children to see whether it be a movie with stylised fantasy gore and violence or art that explores the darker sides of imagination. If they don’t want their kids to be exposed to it then don’t expose them to it. It’s not rocket science.

I think in this instance that it might have been better to PM a mod about the image rather than post your concerns in a public forum. Not that it excuses "violent" messages to you; but since your original intention was for a mod to stay on top of it, I think this would have been a better plan in this case.

(Anyhow... Where does it say this is the cute fluff bunny land (or how you should put it)? You don't like it? Move on then. (That's what I do when I see all the snapshots that floods the new images gallery...) I'll forever stand for the right to express yourself artistically. Come on... Dark doesn't equal bad by a long shot... ^_^ Ok, I'll back off now.)

Nothing like stirring the pots, eh? To those who are late to the party and for those who are coming in later...It's isn't trying to stop ART! It isn't trying to stifle expression, I'm not anti-goth and I love dark!!...I'm wearing a pair of jeans with 3 different skulls, including one with a bullet hole through the head and blood running down it's face...Dark enough?! It's about a 12 year old girl inviting a primarily adult audience of 155,000 members, to tell her she's beautiful and the psychological implications are "I'm distressed about my innerself and confused about life and I need someone to tell me I'm ok" It's freaking asking to be groomed and manipulated!!!! AND! IF that's really not what's she's trying to say...simply change the title. If that is what going through her mind, then maybe not her but we are just asking for a complete disaster sometime in the future...See my post above...I'm done with this...do what you will...and "it's a parents job to monitor their kids"...give me a large, naive, blinded to freakin reality and head in the sand, break!

I think this whole thing comes down to misunderstandings. Everyone leapt to the wrong conclusions (which wasn't helped by your self censoring of this post). Debates on censorship are fine but I don't think that is what this thread is about at all (now that I understand properly). Now that I *think* I know which image you are talking about maybe we can sort something out.

Misunderstandings by Jeffo, who assumed he knew what image was being discussed, because I told some one I didn't like their image and why, he assumed that was the one being discussed.. I am not going to mince words with anyone over it.. I knew exactly which image was being talked about and it was not the one assumed by him.. The only people I am censoring are my 9 and 5 yeare old grandneices and nephew..

No, apparently not... I'm thinking the biggest problem in this thread is the withdrawal of what the original post was about. Quite silly in a way, but I guess there were good reasons.

It is not Shnivles image.. That was the mistake Jeffo made.

And since you guys, who know for sure will not say it, we're all left in the dark. I did get a good hint of what image is was but I guess I don't feel like making new mistakes if that wasn't *exactly* it either...

Dave. Just a side note: It's hard to follow the logic build-up of the thread when you change your posts that much. I admit I make small changes all the time, but that's mostly just spelling or a badly chosen words. If I make larger changes I try to be obvious about that the post have been edited. I'm just not comfortable with posts in discussion that is not the same after I check back after a while...
