I have just had what I hope is a good idea; I noted that Klas and Monkeypuzzle have been doing some "collaborative projects" where (as is my understanding) Klas emails MP a photo which he manipulates, and vice versa. I was wondering if we could take this further. I haven't gone into any great depth with this idea, but I guess maybe those who were interested could register here and then we could send each other images we would like to see reworked, maybe on some kind of rotary basis, and upload the results we like best. Just a thought, maybe someone else can develop on it...
Maybe we could have a 'work' gallery where members would upload their own works that they want to see retouched. Or where members who like to touch up pictures could propose their own editions, with the author's authorization (as Piner made it with my 'Winter is coming')...
Interesting idea Sam.. :-)
Not a bad idea Pierre. Although the concept wouldn't necessarily require a new gallery it would probably make it easier.
I still feel it would be good to be able to work with a specific person on a particular project though, so that we could develop the caedes community aswell as developing great images...
ahhh this is exactly what me and Avi were planning... we were going to ask caedes to setup a little gallery to have an offical game/contest.... where every one would contribute an image born of one single image.. erm... read my post on."Is this a dagger I see before me..."..... but we couldnt pick the image to use before we revealed our cunning plan.. lol... it would be great to see what all the individuals can come up with.. working from the same image.. but bringing thier very own individual styles to it :D
i see it kinda along the lines of how the mutations work in kpt. someone uploads the source image. then whoever partakes uploads their versions of the image & there can be so many mutations with each out styles etc. but like Samatar suggested a rotary sytem of some sort would be good too.: ) all who are in favour of this should suggest it to caedes & make it happen asap methinks...
I think collaborations are a great idea and they can help both or all to learn and explore. I've been dying to work on collaborations with many here but have never had the chance.
Godd to see so many responses already! Grimbug, I did see that comment you made about a "secret project" after I had posted it; however your idea is a bit different from mine. The way I see it is we would have to decide on a single "starter" image, or maybe a different person could have the task of creating it each month/fortnight/whatever, and then everyone who wants to is allowed to upload a single manipulation of that image, and the highest c-index after a certain period is declared the winner? Or something like that anyway. Should be interesting if we get it up and running.
Whoa! This is totally weird! I just posted a suggestion on the Dev site about having an option whereby two or more authors can be credited for a collabarative picture. I then came here to start a new thread and found this one already here. Spooky!
I too had noticed Klas and Avi's works and thought it was a good idea.
I like the sort of 'opensource' idea of a having a separate gallery where people can upload work they would like to see developed. There would be an implicit understanding that people could take their work and use it without seeking permission each time, as long as all parties were credited.

I've been working with Klas, and he's up for it, too. He'll touch base with the Voice from on High on some of the technical stuff, and hopefully within a day or so the new contest will be in place.
yeah collaborations are great fun...it leads to finding out things about ps for example & also the best thing about it is that u learn new ways of looking at images. plus the whole interactivity thing is a bonus too. : ) I'm up 4 it. : )

Wise words, my friend Avi. ;-) It should be ready any time now... I still must say I've done what's in my power. New things sometime need some time to mature before it's ready for go I guess. I firmly believe it's worth the wait though
