Wow...I can't believe how much someone can make an hour...getting paid that much here in Fresno would put you in the filthy rich category...I like the second one, must be able to work with a difficult person...that sounds scary.
Thanks for posting this Cat...maybe with luck, some NY Caedes member will have a new career.
lololol. So nice to know you'll work cheaper for me. 8•P Of course when you get paid in Munchkin Chow and Fungal Growth Creme, the only question is what kind of a deal I can get @ Costco *smirk*
well… I wouldn't be boss, but I would be involved. Photo Processor person would coordinate with me and another person for 1st couple of months and then my involvement would pretty much drop out.
Graphic Production Artist would be mentored by myself and another person, and semi-answerable to the 2 of us. Scratching your head there? We're responsible for helping coordinate the department schedule, making sure jobs are done to company standard, helping resolve problems, and being all-around helpful, etc., so we're not exactly boss, but we have some authority/responsibility. (this does also extend to running interference w/certain people when necessary)
Packaging Production Artist, I would have little to no involvement with as it stands now apart from the fact that they'd be in an adjoining cubicle. My main responsibility there would be answering questions that the person they'd be most closely involved with didn't know & I might.
"How do I tell the 46 year old baby with the mushroom cap on who has a rather creepy resemblence to The Joker that I don't believe in office relationships?"
*moans* don't tell him THAT, Sam ....he's next incarnation will be as Baby Big Ears/Mushy Boy/The Joker ....OMG....think of the damage to the young psyches on site ??!!!! Think of the damage to our psyches !!
Of course he is! We already have a couple growing in a dark cabinet, and are busy on our home improvement project of building an adjoining cabinet so the kids won't fight over their space.
On a serious note… please do not allow my ranting about a certain person put anyone off. Outside of that person, I enjoy everyone I work with, I have a boss with a great sense of humor, and as long as you can handle the deadline & last minute "wtf did this job come from?" stress, the jokes flow all day long and it's a fun place to be.
Oh wait ... one more ... we are talking about real money here, correct?
$15.00/hr & $20 - $25/hr & 'Salary Negotiable' aren't some kind of euphemistic commercial art world terms for 'sucka?' Right?
Hey, that 'bridge incident' wised me up to the ways of the NYC world.
*clutches wallet and bankbook ... a little tighter*
what she hasn't told you is .... rent costs, parking costs, soup costs (from the soup nazi), work uniform for new hires, anti-mugging bribery costs, dental costs when you refuse to pay anti-mugging bribery fees
you're right Les .. this has "sucka" written all over it
A) It's on W. 26th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues… great neighborhood
B) Rent only costs if ur trying to LIVE in the nabe, not WORK there.
C) Parking costs? What parking costs? That's what "stand under the guy's smelly armpit on this crowded train" public transportation is for.
D) The soup nazi is out of business… but he's opened CHAIN STORES w/his name on them. How friggin sad is that?!?!?
E) The costs are payable to me, aren't we all trying to help me get wealthy? *innocent look*
F) Stop trying to scare the candidates off Mushy Boy! When people fill these jobs, I won't have to take as much work home, and I'll have more time to "play". Capisce? After all… you're the one who complained when I missed Max's arrival on the island of the Wild Things last nite cuz I was too busy to settle down and watch!
P.S. I'm still sticky from all the popcorn you kept throwing to get my attention, come wash me off 8•P
Well… there's news. Lots of news. The packaging position has just been filled, and my unofficial promotion has just become official.
I'll still be a backup as a studio production artist, but I'm now the Creative Director for a couple of licenses and will be picking up more as the year goes on until I'm out of the production artist for other people business altogether except in a tight pinch. 8•)
in other news also: the person who I shared responsibility/authority around the department with has been promoted to Studio Manager, which is a great fit for him. He'll continue to be a production artist also, but will manage the workload for, and be responsible for mentoring/overseeing the rest of the production artists.
Sounds like .. "too many cooks ruin the stew" .. but, now, you don't have any cooks left, just restaurant managers who "used" to know how to cook but feel it's beneath them and might splash on their expensive duds
