I just got this very interesting email from the Physics dept. mailling list:
The person who took the breakfast burritos out of the 606 fridge needs to contact me immediately. Those burritos along with all the items in the upper deck of that fridge are part of a KRAFT funded study on food preservation. The burritos were antiques by FDA standards. Please email me or call 555-6607. In the mean time you may want avoid eating foods that are rich in iron or magnesium.
While it goes without saying that you shouldn't eat somebody else's food ... it also goes without saying you should label your lab experiments when it could prove harmful
what if it was .. "bring your kids to work day" ... or .. better yet .. an April Fools Joke
That was my first thought as well. Usually there would be a refrigerator dedicated to nonpotable items and would be labeled as such. Perhapse it is too easy to overcome such warnings when our natural inclination when hungry and with available food is to eat it.
We have similar problems at work sometimes when 'food' products are left around after product photo shoots. these have invariably been treated with a variety of processes and chemicals including yacht varnish, silicon, plaster, glycerine, wallpaper paste etc. despite being labelled with many unfit for human consumption labels someone will always try and take a nibble.
there's nothing like frozen uncooked poultry painted with gravy browning and yacht varnish to give you a nasty gastric attack :-)
Greed knows no boundaries, does it? And laziness, the food should have been in a locked , labeled fridge~~~shortcuts usually prove to be fruitless and cause more work or problems than the original project.
Thanks for sharing that with us Caedes. I found it quite interesting (and not to mention funny!) :~)
hehehe... we used to have that happen where I worked too you put stuff in the fridge and it would disappear, usually cans of drink even if they were open someone would always drink it, no one would own up, so someone put in blue food colouring in an open can of drink.. yep we found the culprit it was the boss.. you'll find your food kidnapper Geri, just follow the sounds of the moans and groans of an upset stomach, and an eye on the toilet door.. lol
Reminds me of a story someone once told me about a woman whos milk kept getting pinched from the work fridge. She came up with the idea of putting it in a bottle labelled "Breast Milk". After that she had no more problems.
Nothing should surprise you about food preparation at ANY point in the process
I've heard too many stories of people working the graveyard shift at companies, like, bread dough processing .. doffing their duds and wading through the product .. for the cool tingly feeling
(*with mouth agape*) ... whaaa? ... (*looks at today's lunch with ... now ... much less enthusiasm than before*) ... at least I have my cookies ... Belgium or Empire, if you prefer ... fresh from the Farmer's Market. :o)
Now ... how could there be anything wrong with that? (*he asked naively*)
