Windows, because I have tried Linux Ubunto Hoary Hegehog or whatever it is called and I can not understand it. I am considering trying Puppy Linux (weighs in at around 60 MB, and I always wanted a dog :) ) but in the meantime Windows suits me fine. I think you have to be clever to use Linux. Thats why I use Windows.
I have never tried Linux, I think it sounds too complicated for someone who just wants an OS and doesn't want to spend days figuring out how to get it working... good for tech heads but not for everyday users I imagine. I gave Windows the flick in favour of OSX and have never looked bakc... Macs OS has it's flaws but nothing as sever as the trouble I had with Windows, especially their infamous "security updates". Viruses could be a pain occassionally too, don't get them anymore.
Those who are good with command line love Linux, Mac based OS are great for graphics, but Bill Gates made sure to have a great monopoly going with windows...which is actually not the best...very hackable, lots of security holes, easily compromised...but...everything runs on windows...certain things run on Mac and Linux...although since Linux is open, more apps are becomming available.
Everyone gripes about Windows but if you keep it updated it is very stable. I have used XP since it came out and have no problems and believe me I thrash an OS.
Haven't used Linux, so can't speak to it. Equally comfortable w/both Mac & Windows, personal preference is for the Mac. A) as Sam said... it's a rare virus that gets written for the Mac. B) I feel it's more user friendly, easier to navigate in general. C) I can "acquire" certain things I can't afford to pay through the nose for...

well things seam to be moving ever closer towards common reference computing where you will be soon able to install whatever OS you like on your box regardless of its origin - you'll even be able to run OSX or Linux on your sony playstation 3 when that appears so I think lines will start getting blurred real quick and mr gates monopoly may start to crumble at the edges a little. at the very least it will give many pc users the chance to see what they have been missing by having dual boot machines :-)
BTW - your initial question is the proverbial loaded gun in a forum and is right up there with theology for bringing out the trolls and zealots from the woodwork so good luck with that one! :-)

I get a kick out of the Gates empire ultimately collapsing...like he should care...he already has all the money. What? He won't be able to buy GM or Ford?
