a variety of macs and wintels including quad and dual core G5 macs with 4GB RAM with Wacom Intuos3 tablets and LaCie Photonvision monitors. Windows is represented by two Poweredge dual xeon servers, a Sony Vaio and a Compaq Presario notebook.

it's not so important what's under the hood as it is where my roots are ..
(Amiga 1986) .. Seven Point One Six Megahertz ... Baby .. 256k RAM .. 13" monitor .. 320x240 REZ-o-lution .. 880k Floppy Drive (HDD's are for WIMPZ) ... 300 baud modems were good then, I see no reason why they shouldn't be good NOW

I have a IBM t30 laptop w/ 1Gb ram and the usual stuff. I like it. My home system is a dell 2400 with a 2.6GHz celeron and 1Gb of ram. Plus lots of tweaks :).
I got a 'new' computer, a Pentium !!! 550, with 128 MB SDRAM, A 1 GB HDD stolen from my main computer, and a (don't laugh) 330 MB HDD. I just use it as a tiny server.

Experimental computer 1:
Gumstix Pro 300 MHz with 256 MB expandable SD memory with 2 Hirose expansion connectors all wrapped up into a little plastic case the size of a gum stick. (I'm pretty sure I spelled Hirose wrong.)
Experimental computer(s) 2:
15 parallel clustered 1GHz machines with 256MB each 30GB PATA hard drives running HA Linux core.
Encoding/rendering machine:
2.4GHz AMD Athalon 64 with 2X 200MB hard drives RAID 0+1 and 1GB PC4200 DDR SDRAM.
The temperature rise in my apartment when all these suckers are on? about 10 degrees.

The gumstix was from the Linux club budget at my college.
The cluster was $250 because the college was having a liquidation of all their older computers. I just happened to have $250 at the time and beat all other bids for the pallet.
The last one cost me around $850 and was from my inheritance from my uncle.
Happy now?
A home made Mod cased AMD 64 3000+ w/1GB Ram, Asus motherboard, Thermaltake copper heat sink, nVIDIA 6800 OC XT graphics card, Sound Blaster XFI Music 5.1 surround sound card w/Logitech THX speakers (5) and huge subwoofer, Maxtor 250 GB main HDD, Maxtor 40 GB secondary HDD, 165 GB Seagate external HDD, 16X DVD ROM drive, CD/CD burner, Antec 430 watt power supply, lighted Sunbeam keyboard, Logitech high speed gaming mouse, system runs eight fans. Windows XP will be upgraded to Vista as soon as it is released (the top one of the 8 flavors I can afford).
