Hi im going to buy a small camera with image quality being my main priority. I have been looking at the Canon Digital Ixus 750. Is there anything else you would recomend that competes with this model?

bucket loads, try looking at panasonic Lumix compacts - they are just updating their range with compact models going up to 10MP so there will no doubt be heavy discounts to be had on the outgoing 8MP models - all of which come with Leica lenses.

I've been pleased with my Canon SD 450...similar to your Canon Ixus 50. You should be very happy with the 750 I would have to think.

The reviews for Kodak EasyShare V570 5MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom is very good. And for under 300$ its very good! Canon's Digital Ixus 750 is a good compact but the 2 main complaints are poor battery life and none effective redeye reduction. My 2cents worth...tim

Just buy a normal camera and jump up and down on it for a while.

I've got a Canon A620 that I'm insanely happy with. It's superbly priced, has a great lens and a nice 7mp sensor. The metering is excellent and it has a great range of controls (including full manual, fill flash etc). One of the things I like best about it is the fold out LCD screen, it's superb for macros or any other photos taken at odd angles. With a fast memory card you can keep shooting until your media's full at about 3 fps or so.

There are a couple of cons, there's no bracketing mode (although with full manual you can do it yourself). The accessory to mount filters with a 58mm thread is an optional accessory (but at least you can mount filters on it).

Most of the photos in my gallery were taken with it, and dpreview have an in-depth review of it.
