Hey, here's an idea for anyone interested. Why not create/shoot an image of an ice cream...flavor?*

Cherry Vanilla, Rocky Road, Vanilla Fudge, etc. You get the idea. Right?

And fair game for those on the Fractal/CG side of the house.

*Snapshots of the actual ice cream are SO not qualified. ;-)

Try to keep in mind, when suggesting a topic:

i) Open to all genres of art. Not just photography.

ii) Add a short description (one or two lines is sufficient) , so 'we' know what the artistic aim/intention of the subject matter is.

iii) Try not to repeat previous topics.

Telling a story. Open to all genres, even fractalists, as I have added to fractal images using photoshop (well pixelmator) to mage a clinical image into something else, such as here. Doesn't always require a manipulation, but should be more than just a view as it needs some activity to make a story from.

'Ice cream flavors' huh, could be fattening but what a cool idea.

In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art. ~Rumi~

I put stairs/stairways into the topic, cause it's open to all genres of art. Not just photography.

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

So how does this contest thing work?

@ jimschueler:

After the conclusion of a site contest.. a poll is put up (as you see above), where members can suggest the topic/theme for the next to run contest.

Click on the button beside the suggestion/topic you wish to be the topic.. places your vote to the cumulative totals. Or, feel free to add your own suggestion/topic.

Once the contest starts.. upload your images as you normally do, come back to this page ... click on "Entries" (it will appear in the upper right-hand of this page once the contest is underway) ... and once your image has been approved, it should appear in the drop down menu for you to enter it. Or, any images you've uploaded during the duration of the contest time frame.

Then..

Voting is conducted.

Links to contest related items for members can be found via "Jobs" in the left-hand side menu of any site page once you've logged onto the site.

Could be an announcement (contest topic poll, or that of accepting entries) ... could be for voting on the entries with respect to a contest recently held.

As well, contest related items are announced on the front or home page.

Edit: The drop-down menu for selection and submission of entries.. appears on all three contest related pages.

That of:

1) Caede.net Contests
2) Contest Topic Poll
3) Contest Entries

"Snow scenes are so beautiful!"

Agreed.

"Snow Scenes really limits people. I live in Florida and haven't seen snow for eight years."

So..

Vote for "Inspired by ice cream flavors" (Vanilla, French Vanilla) ... and "have it your way!"

(/\ Tip of the hat to Burger King for use of their catch phrase/slogan.)

And best of all.. open it up creatively for other members to have it 'their way' in the next contest as well.

:o)

There are several creative choices there, but if we don't band together on one of them we're likely to get another photographer's-only contest.

I suggested the flavor theme for its all-inclusiveness, but also for its creative potential. Maybe it might be helpful for those suggesting topics to ask : Did I suggest a topic easiest to meet, or one that will yield the best, or most interesting or creative product?

I haven't voted yet, but I must admit that I have not seen a topic yet that would prevent me from participating in the contest whether it be with photography or art.

My mind has already started thinking about each of the topic leaders and the possibilities for each.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

It appears that some people aren't looking beyond the first word. It's "insect's view of the world", not "insects" ...
