This is the first calf I have noticed around these parts this year. There have probably been more but his color and it being lunch time, made it catch my eye. At first the calf was lying on the ground facing away from me. I did a few moo's and it finally stood up. It stood there for a little bit while I took this shot then it laid back down facing me. All this time the mom was grazing on the hillside. When I told the calf I thought I would name him gravy, he jumped up and headed for mom. It was still wobbly so I guess it was a newborn. Amazing how fast they can walk.

Pop out and pop up. That's the creed of the calf.

Reminds me of Passover...how they would pick a lamb or goat and it would, in effect, become a household pet. I'm sure the children would give them a name and play with them. And then Passover arrived and they would be slaughtered and eaten. It prefigured the Passion of the Lamb.

I wanna see and hear you do that moo! Make a video and put it on YouTube! LOL. That veal cutlet sounds good, and so does the gravy! I don't think I have any in the freezer, but maybe I can make a hamburger and use my imagination! Great shot of the cute calf, Tick. Excellent clarity, and sunshine. Well done...your shot AND my hamburger!!

No wonder that groovy "gravy" took to its heels seeing the hungry look Tick. They have a born dislike to "Beefeaters". Nice shot of the little one.

First of all, TicK, I wanted to mentioned your new avatar. Did you grow a beard?

Just a couple of things. I hate the title. And to prove it, I'm giving up veal for Lent. Let me rephrase that. I meant to say that I'm giving up lint for veal. Yeah, that sounds more like me.

I probably wouldn't have centered the little fellah in the shot. Other than that, I can't complain...dammit.

It was probably your thick Mid-West accent throwing the calf off from responding to your queries sooner than it did. A wonderful expression on the calf's face. Good details and lighting in the photo.
