I was attending my grandson's basketball tournament last weekend and had a break between games. I was in Iowa and there are many gravel roads. I took the first one and stumbled across this unusual house. It was out in the middle of nowhere in my way of thinking. If I had been by this house before, it didn't ring a bell.

My wife was busy reading her Kindle (no more real books) and I stalked the house like a burglar. If anyone was home they didn't let on. There were two antenna's on the house. One a regular antenna and the other of the microwave variety. I suspect they were to receive local channels. I felt bad getting rid of them with all the storms that have been hitting our part of the world. I put some mud on my license plate before I left so they couldn't report me to the FCC. I left their satellite so they can watch the weather channel if it gets bad. No way I was going to leave them in the lurch. They will probably be confused when they come home because I flipped the scene horizontally. Gotta run, someone is at the door and there are flashing lights.

It looks as though nobody is at home Tick. If they will be coming back from a party they may have a problem because you flipped the scene horizontally. (Good it wasn't done vertically because it would have caused utter confusion. Nice shot of this house.

Tick - Interesting that it has a bell tower, making me wonder if it was not a house originally. You trapped an excellent capture and worked magic in post-photo. Thad

I really like the detailed workmanship, of this ornate house, it does remind me of an old school house, and that sky is a real mood setter. =^..^=tigz

Is that a bell at the top of the house? Maybe it was a schoolhouse at one time. We have lots of those here in Iowa, Tick. And I love this place and your shot!!! And that sky is so dramatic!!!

Okay the cake is on it's way of course there isn't a file in it to help you escape from jail . I agree it looks as if it were a school at one time. Great shot with beautiful colors and lighting.

Hell's Bell's!...this is good!...yer damn lucky to spot it afore me too!..

Off road exploration is always a good idea for photographers!..(Noticed I called you that!) but it's always a good idea to have someone or a phone with you too...in case of 'difficulties'...A good lawyer would be my bet for you!

Good angle for this shot, and very well presented!...My guess it could have been a church/chapel before?...

Nice one...Faved!...

They must have a mess of children if they need a bell tower to call them all to dinner. Excellent work on this capture, Tick. Lovely lighting and good clarity in the photo.

Could have been a house of ill repute at one time - it seems a scene from a novel - way out back and beyond. Did you leave fingerprints Tick - they may well be coming for you.
