You are probably wondering why a photo of a bridge on the Mississippi River after reading the title. Well, I will tell you. There are two bridges in the photo and one of them has been totally demolished. It is the old Champ Clark Bridge in Louisiana, Missouri. Little did I know the Champ was going to be knocked out at a later day. I was there attending my grandson's football game September 27th. You can see the demolition by clicking on this link. For those of you that have Facebook, you can read more about it here. I don't have a Facebook account so this is courtesy of my grandson.

If you don't want to check the links, the old Champ Clark Bridge (trusses visible) was built in 1928 and went down for the final count November 18, 2019. I was unaware I would not be seeing this bridge again. I think there is a lesson to be learned here. Enjoy.

91 years may or may not be a lot of years. Acceptance of the measurement of time is dependent on the beholder and their place in time. I can remember thinking people my age were old. Don't think so anymore.

The new bridge looks dandy and should also hold up ninety years. We will never know. I guess we should just keep our fingers crossed as long as we can to help it out on its journey.

Over time, since when this river was born, think how many histories it has seen, how many animals have come into existence and gone into extinction; how many people, how many roads, how many crossings, how many bridges.

Now a new bridge is here and an old one is gone. Life is faster and the bridge ride is smoother. When on the New Champ, the future is visible and the memory of Old Champ begins to fade away from those old enough to remember it. And those too young to know about a bridge with trusses, will birth memories of their New Champ.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), after checking-out the first link of your narrative I got this message: "---Unavailable due to legal reasons--- We recognize you are attempting to access this website from a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) including the EU which enforces the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and therefore access cannot be granted at this time."

I saw the artist impression of the Champ Clark Bridge Replacement however by checking-out the second link.
To me the older one has more 'character', but let's call the replacement 'progression', due to safety reasons as well.

A wonderful view with the blue river and the long bridge. With so much traffic passing by all those years it has to be replaced I guess. A well taken and beautiful shot Tick.

...Couldn't really tell until I saw the demolition photo in the link... I thought that maybe all that was left of the old one were just the supports and footings, and the solid steel beam went along with the trusses...Guessing trusses on most bridges are really fast becoming things of the past...Lower cost concrete forms and custom-made steel spans are "Order of the Day" now...

Nice image and descriptive, Cap'n...Faved
