A local lady decided to try and bring some cheer and smiles to the staff and residents of the Nursing Home in our area. She dressed up as a clown and performed some acts for those who cannot get out and about or have visitors. The Nursing Home has been closed to visitors since March 15th. This is what I had in mind when I suggested the Pandemic Related topic for the upcoming contest. I apologize for the quality of the photos, but feel it's the idea that counts.

The care homes in our area have been hit badly .. so, moments and smiles like this will go along way to cheer them up...

Nice collage Tick - I'm sure those on the outside put a smile on those on the inside.

I see a "smoke free" notice in the one window. Wouldn't it be ironic to find out that tobacco smoke would kill this virus???

It's amazing how people have come together, this is very nice Tick, she must be a kind soul. The quality does not matter as much as the thought behind the pictures. I had to chuckle a little at John's comment about the smoke. tigs=^..^=

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), I wonder why you've chosen for the 'people' gallery instead of the 'photojournalism' gallery. In our newspapers one can see similar images, but often of a lesser quality, because the nursing homes in my country are closed to visitors as well because of the Covid-19 (Corona) pandemic.
Think however that you gave priority what has happened to elder people instead of the news factor.
Anyhow a striking and touching collage to me. It's admirable what this woman dressed as a clown does. Many elderly people with dementia don't understand that they are suddenly no longer allowed to receive visitors. Such an action soothes this pain.

I totally get your contest suggestion, Tick, and though it does not appear it will be the next contest theme, this is a wonderful way for people everywhere to express themselves with art or in person during a time when we are all so restricted...a wonderful gesture by these people to cheer up the nursing home residents...they in particular have been hit so hard with the virus here too.

A clown always brings a smile - regardless of age. What a great gesture by this woman. Thanks for sharing the photojournalism of this event. Be safe!
